Black Star in. It’s a beautiful little hotel in the old town. It has a funky wine bar in the cellar and you can walk to the square or Charles bridge.

Central

I've been summer and winter, staying very centrally and also a few minutes out by tube. The hotels I've used have rebranded but even in winter I'd encourage you not to be too fixated on just being a few minutes walking distance to the major tourist traps, if you find equal or better places or deals just a short ride away. They're seemingly better at managing snowfall than here too.

A lot of us have been based on previous posts, so you should get some good feedback.

East Yorkshire

Rented an amazing apartment but it was 15 years ago so no idea what it was called.

Public transport is cheap, save yourself money and explore more by being outside of the very centre.

I stay in Metamorphis Hotel Oct 2017, went for my mates 40th alas long story short she cancel the night before so I went on my own

Hotel was lovely, staff were fantastic and very helpful. I didn't try out the beer spa, no fun on ya own

Hotel is central close to everything, There is an Irish bar in the square when I bumped into a stag do who then 'took me under their wings' and went on a bar/club crawl with them. Those northern farmers can drink!

Felt safe in Prague on my own unlike Barcelona

Its a bit pricey hotel but was worth the money as you save on cabs etc if you stay further out. Also was my mates 40th so we did go up in price... Least I celebrated it in Prague

I went with the ex wife for 4 days, I took £120 and said "If we need any more I'll get out of the cash point while we're there"

We ate out twice a day, including wine and beer, last night we got a speedboat from the casino down to the best restaurant in Prague. Speedboat for 6 of us cost £6.

6 of us, all had 3 course meals, more wine, more beer. £36 for all of us.

I came home with £45....

How long ago was that? I don't remember it being that cheap.

Sorry OP I don't have any hotel recommendations as I stayed in my friend's flat everytime, but I love that city. It is my most favourite city. I'm sure you will have a great time.

I went a couple of years ago with a lovely friend of mine in December. We stayed in the Hotel Noir. It's close to the Pavlova metro trams. Ideal to centre. Spotlessly clean hotel. Great service. The room we stayed in was spacious. Highly recommend it x

There’s loads to go see. The Petrin Tower, John Lennon wall, the depiction of Christ’s of crucifixion, the astronomical clock, the palace and cathedral is pretty impressive but it’s a bit of walk, they also have the largest collection of barbies on display.

Gravesend

I still rate a long weekend In Prague as my favourite shirt break. We stayed in the holiday in one of the castles on the outskirts. Public transport is good so out of the centre works well and is cheaper too.

Did you mean Staropramen? I believe Pilsner Urquell is considered to be the best brand of Czech beer though, if you ever go again.

I actually recommend staying in AirBnB

You get some lovely period apartments at a fraction the cost of a hotel.. And the location is wherever you want!

"Did you mean Staropramen? I believe Pilsner Urquell is considered to be the best brand of Czech beer though, if you ever go again. "

It's considered the best because Pilsner Urquell is the original pilsner, the first golden lager. However, it's only 4.4% whereas Staropramen is 5.0% and has a fuller flavour. It just depends on taste, they are very different.

Staropramen is brewed in Prague but Urquell is not.

Always a pleasure to find either being served.

Been to Prague a few times with clients truly a beautiful city, although it was work didn't get to see much. The hotel that most impressed me was The Grand Mark close to the old town, also very close to the station, a trip by train to Vienna is just about 4hrs I think, well worth it for the scenery alone.

Just my take on it.

If your looking for somewhere cheap, clean and comfortable maybe try Hotel Lenta. Its just a lovely walk through Lenta Park into town. So your a walk away from the town but out of the humdrum of city centre. I enjoyed my stay there. The only thing I'd say is I'm not too sure how safe the park is for two women walking through at night time? So you may want to use a taxi when dark.

Stayed at Mamaison Riverside Hotel earlier this year. Very nice and reasonably priced. Found a fantastic local restaurant with excellent, great value food too. 2 bridges down from Charles Bridge and opposite the Fred & Ginger restaurant. Prague is a fabulous city, you’ll love it.

We stayed in the Royal Palace Hotel in Prague in the summer, it's about a 5 min walk from the Charles Bridge and our room overlooked the Vojan Gardens, very pretty and peaceful.

I was there in 2002 and it was pennies for drinks. Was paying 50p a pint and cigs worked out at a £1 a pack, eating in nice restaurants was so cheap too. Were heading there in December and unfortunately its nowhere near as cheap now

Can anyone recommend a place where I can take Mrs N for a few good drinks where we wont get ripped off, some dancing and Adult entertainment. We are in the old part of the city so shouldn't be too far to walk.

Or is finding a place like that a bit like falling off a log as there are so many places like that. Just no idea what to expect.
