What stops us speaking to random people in public we find attractive?

I went the shop earlier today, on the way there and on the way back I passed a gorgeous guy and we both locked eyes each time for a good chunk of time. All I could think is I'd love to just speak to you and see if the same thoughts were going through his mind the same as mine and yet I carried on walking

Lack of confidence & probably fear of rejection when it's "real life" situations.

The fact the women can scream if they don't like you, then your branded a sex pest and weirdo for approaching them in the street, then maybe your name gets splashed all over social media, you start getting funny looks in the street and called names by random people, hereby ruining your life totally..... I think that's why I would talk to a random woman..... Tea anybody?

See I hate this, I know with society the way things are today this is considered normal - men fearing to step out for fear of being persecuted.

But it's so wrong, I have no problem someone randomely speaking to me so long as they don't take it the wrong way if I am not interested back.

I do think in reading the responses my initial reaction today was the embarassment if he had not been keen but if I see him again I think I will try to grow some balls and say hi haha

My mate nearly got beat up for asking a women where she was from, she said 'nothing to do with you, go away' then she told her brother and his mat, it nearly kicked off, probably would of been different if he'd been goodooking

Crikey, that escalated quickly.

Surely saying hi to someone wouldn't get you branded as a sex pest. I'm curious as to how you approach women if this is the response you get

I don't want to be annoying. I'm not unkind to anyone who approaches me, but I do try to get rid of them as politely as possible.

A great female friend of mine had a guy say hi to her in the supermarket queue. Married 15 years and 2 kids now.

Exactly, it's not a huge deal unless you make it one. Say hello to people, if they don't want to talk they will make it clear.

It's yet to happen, but yes, approaching me in public is a never win strategy.
