So, the weather has turned. It's cold, wet & frosty. Days seem shorter.

What autumnal rituals do you have?

Heating on? Light the fire? Play conkers? Drink hot chocolate?

I've started wearing my vests, thick socks and jumpers again. There will be hot chocolate soon.

What do you do?

I found a lovely big conker today and put it in my pocket. Turned the central heating on yesterday.

What are the best conker preserving/ hardening techniques?

And what do you use to make your mulled wine?

Walked out last night down path in jammies to give my friend his car keys and stood on slug. Then reached to open gate and put my hand on slug. Love autumn.

Soak in vinegar then partially bake. Not too long baking or they explode.

"

And what do you use to make your mulled wine?"

Sliced satsumas, cinnamon sticks, black peppercorns, cloves, cardamom pods, brown sugar or nice honey. Dont let it boil. Stir gently. Leave it on the stove to cool for few min and soak the spices flavours. Sieve into a nice glass and enjoy. X

If i have some cherry vodka I will throw a shot in too.

I would much prefer a glass of your delicious mulled wine than a vinegar soaked conker.

My Autumn ritual would be to....?

I'm not sure what my ritual would be because South Florida is hot as hell until November.

Use the conkers to ward off spiders. Place one on each window sill.

This is my favourite time of year

( when it's not raining )

I get my comfy winter snuggly clothes out, jumpers, cardigans, jackets, boots and scarves

Days off are spent at the cinema or snuggled inside with or without someone

.

I love autumn! I always buy a new candle and jumper. And sit by the fire and read with hot chocolate and cosy socks on. If it's one of those brisk, sunny autumnal days I love taking the inlaws dog out for a walk in the woods and coming home to a delicious stew in the slow cooker. It's also horror movie time! Coupled with some parkin and a perfect cup of tea.

Oh and drinking Pumpkin Spice Lattes.

I swap the brown and blue bins over. In the winter the back gate swells up so it cant be opened easily to put out the recycling. The cats use the bin to climb into the window.

I listened to Eva Cassidy - Autumn leaves yesterday.

Thanks for this post. Made me all sentimental.

I am also looking forward to visiting local cemetery in Nov and lighting up a candle on All Saints/All Souls day. Tradition from my native country.

We don't have any rituals I can think off, when it gets cold we put an extra layer on or turn the heating on.

As it gets dark we turn a light on

We do go to bed a little earlier, maybe watch telly in bed under the duvet.

Not rituals as such,more,common sense
