Should A Man Have A Wedding Ring?

Following on from the Engagement Ring thread:

(And yes I think I would go for one)

Should a man have a wedding ring?

Do you wear a ring and if so why?

If you don't, why?

(Ask me this question 12 months ago and I would of said, no, today, leaning more towards yes)

I see it from a different view point (or at least I did, my view has changed)

Having never worn a ring, chain, bracelet etc just didn't fancy the idea of a ring, even a wedding ring, after all, it's just a ring isn't it?

My viewpoint now is total opposite, it's not just a ring, but a show of love.

Maybe just getting older?

(Well I know the reason, just not putting it online haha)

I mean yes but i get why some people dont wear it all the time specially if they are labourers as theres a risk of loosing it. Happened to my mums hubby but luckily they found it

Yes, seen a few fingers ripped apart from wearing a ring and being caught.

Mr Cagey doesn’t wear his because with the work he does with his hands it is a hazard and not allowed during work hours, so being a forgetful person, he just almost never puts it on after. I’m not terribly bothered.

Mine was too small in pregnancy (8 years ago lol) and I took it off and never got it adjusted and have had a variety of temporary rings but none last very long. My finger still feels naked without one haha.

But the ring doesn’t prove much I think. - Mrs

Or he could rip his finger or hand into machinery at work and isn’t going to wear it just to drive to work, and from 5pm to 6am every day so I don’t feel insecure.

Cheaters also wear rings, check some photos here on fab. Lol -Mrs

Absolutely, practicality always has a bearing on it but it should never be a one sided endeavour, both parties wear it or neither. With exception to times when it’s just not worth losing it or injury from wearing it.

I've spent most of ma life working on site, and not many people wear jewelry of any description, mainly because it can get snagged on something and become a health and safety hazard. As I said earlier, I would wear one after work hours if I was going out though

I didn’t have a wedding ring. I’m not a jewellery person so didn’t feel the the need to wear something I wouldn’t normally. I was married 20 years so did ok without one.

Question to all the divorced men on here. How long did you last WITH a piece of round metal on your finger.

I was with a. Guy for 9 months he wore a wedding ring but said his wife had died from a brain tumour and couldn’t bare to take it off yet (later found out he was married) why would someone make up such a horrible story about their wife dying

I have a wedding ring that I never wear. One reason is that I work a manual job and don't want to damage my finger, and my other reason is that I don't want to lose it!

For the past few years it's been carried around in my wallet!
