When power goes to ones head

Some guy at work has been made up to be a supervisor at work and become a right cunt. Pardon my French.

Has anyone noticed other people that have had a power trip or a position of authority has gone to their head?

Over the years, I've experienced a few scenes like this and in one case at least it was me who was getting on the wrong side of people who had been working there longer and probably thought they should have got it.

It may be that your colleague is still feeling very insecure in their new role and is over compensating. Please do bear with.... And, if you ever did care for that person, support them as best you can. You never know, you might even feel better for doing that than being resentful.

I haven't seen somebody being promoted and becoming an arsehole (as in before and after) but I have seen plenty of people already in positions of responsibility who are already arseholes.

Whenever I have been somebody's boss I have always tried to be fair and have a good working relationship with them. I have always tried to make them feel that if they have a problem, including with me, then I am open to hear it and will help or change as necessary. I hope I was successful at it.

Conversation is vastly preferable to conflict.

Luke
