Having looked at the news from Oz, early flu season and higher than normal deaths, thinking about getting it this year.

Neither can I, hence no tattoo's either, however, I do stand up, talk alot (as in more than normal) and in the end get stabbed.

Because they inject you with a live vaccine (under 18 is a nose spray). I’d rather be a little bit sick than have T be seriously ill or die due to his compromised immune system. It’s not just about 1 person, it’s also about others you may come into contact with.

Good luck with that.

Influenza doesn't discriminate in who gets infected.

Whilst most deaths tend to occur in the very young or very old, there is a paradox that approximately 1 in 8 deaths occur among working age adults (18 - 64) as this age group, in the main, do not access influenza vaccination.

Forced to have it though work.

Was on a ward where they had all had it the previous week, and all but one of them had 'a heavy cold'

Obviously just a coincidence.

Dad had it 3 years in a row and every year still got flu.

Not had it for five years now, and never had it since. Going into a home where they 'encourage' you to have it.

Last year had the biggest uptake on record, then they started printing figures telling us it was the worse flu season for 10 years....

P.s. tinfoil hats don't stop it either.

Taken from the NHS website ...

The flu vaccine cannot give you flu

The injected flu vaccine given to adults contains inactivated flu viruses, so it cannot give you flu.

The children's nasal spray flu vaccine contains live but weakened flu viruses that will not give your child flu.

I know several people who have nearly died from flu, or would die if they caught it. Including those who can't have it. It's quite literally my moral obligation to get it.

It's less effective than some other vaccines, but something is better than nothing.

I had it done for free at Boots on saturday. I can get it done at my GPs surgery but they run clinics at akward times so it was easier at Boots.

Its important for as many people as possible to have it to give herd immunity and therefore help people who cant have it.

I have uncontrolled asthma, i also have two auto immune diseases so getting flu would be a disaster.

I have had flu (obviously not the strain i was vacinated against) and i was very very ill.

Get the flu jab at your peril!

You don’t know what’s in the jab, metals toxins all sorts!

Big pharma are playing the long game creating future customers!

You may not show any immediate symptoms. But 5, 10, 15 years down the line you will end up with something where, they will sell you a product to alleviate the symptoms..... not cure it.

And you wonder why cancer is on the increase? It’s big money. No profit in a cure!

Just my pennies worth.

If you ever had real influenza you would grab the chance to be vaccinated every year.

If you're sneezing a bit and feel a little low, that's not even a cold. If you're sneezing, wheezing, feel dizzy, constantly coughing up muck and are in such a state thst it's impossible to go to work, that's a cold. With real influenza you are bed bound for up to several weeks, hurting all over, delirious, and genuinely think you are going to die, then you probably do have influenza. If you actually have influenza, and you are young, old or have a compromised immune system, then there is a distinct possibility that you may die or have severe lasting side effects such as neurological damage.

Get the jab. Your arm might feel a bit sore for a couple of days. You might even coincidentally sneeze a few times. It's better than dying.

Do you have any credible, scientific evidence for any of this? And to counter the health gains over generations that "coincidentally" begin with mass immunisation?

I always get a flu jab as I work in healthcare.

It only protects you from the three or four (depending which flu jab you get) flu strains they predict will cause problems.

Despite this I had a horrible flu, and was off work for a week with it. I then had a double ear infection and was on antibiotics. My kids also got it.

The flu vaccine is great when the predictions are accurate and worth getting, but doesn't guarantee you won't get the flu at all.

My calculation is, a bit of a sore arm (most likely) is well worth taking my chances with even given the lower efficacy flu jabs.

Mass immunisation does not equal health gains. Your using data provided by the very companies that provide the vaccines. I’m sure if you look they cure / prevent a problem only to create several down the road... it’s all big money.

Vaccination is a personal choice... if it makes you feel better to think that a big multi national pharmaceutical company has your good health at heart (no profit to be made from healthy people),

Then good luck to you.

It’s just not for me!

"I feel the same regarding all vaccinations.

Life is a lottery... personal choice with vaccinations. Your born with a healthy immune system. If you believe a flu jab will make it stronger .... good luck to you.

Fair enough but I really don't think there's much of an argument against the eradication of smallpox or polio

"Mass immunisation does not equal health gains.

Love this opinion..

Why would a company who sell you meds to make you feel better when your ill, now want you to be ill?

Bit of an oxymoron if you ask me x

Just curious

I take high dose vitamin D (5000iu) in the winter and never get the flu or even a cold. Vitamin D deficiency is a massive reason we get ill in the winter. Boost your natural immune system, no need for mercury filled jabs.

"Has anyone ever had the flu jab and then got flu for the first time after the jab?

Someone I know has had that and is dead against it now.

Wouldn't mind seeing if that is a 1 off case or quite common "

The flu is a rapidly mutating virus and unfortunately at times, by the time the annual vaccine has been developed, strains of the virus have mutated again and then you can catch it despite being vaccinated. This happened to me last year. When this does happen, the flu often spreads more rapidly due to the vaccine not protecting against it making all of us more likely to catch it. So no, they didn't catch flu because they had the vaccine, it was just bad luck.

I'm guessing that you have never had the opportunity of travelling to countries that don't have big pharmaceutical companies offering the population a 'personal choice'?

Countries with clusters of villages that have no children under the age of five because they all died from measles.

European vaccines don't contain mercury.

The mercury containing compound (thiomersal) employed as an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal in some vaccines was phased out and its use is now limited e.g. paediatric influenza vaccine nasal spray in the USA.

Thiomersal continues to be used as a preservative in skin creams and ointments, eye drops, nasal sprays, contact lens solutions and tattoo dyes.

So, getting worked up over a preservative in a medicine when the original issue was methylmercury exposure through contaminated fish and grain (Japan 1960s, Iraq 1970s) doesn't make a lot of sense, other than to individuals that take their facts from social media rather than scientific research papers.

Incidentally, tattoo inks can also (depending on their colour, contain lead, antimony, beryllium, chromium, cobalt nickel and arsenic; all of these are 'toxic / poisonous'.

The thing is though is a mercury containing compound is still not mercury in the same way that putting sodium chloride (salt) on your chips is not the same thing as eating chlorine. So vaccines do not contain mercury.

Also I have had flu and at the time I would happily have let someone put me down like a dog!

I do usually feel a bit under the weather after having the jab. I assume this is my immune system doing it’s job, but far rather that than anything more deadly.

Have you noticed how the anti vaccination brigade mostly consists of poorly educated people with little or no scientific background?

"The thing is though is a mercury containing compound is still not mercury in the same way that putting sodium chloride (salt) on your chips is not the same thing as eating chlorine. So vaccines do not contain mercury."

You can, pretty much, consume elemental mercury) the liquid silvery stuff found in old thermometers etc.) and a variety of mercury salts, although I wouldn't recommend it, as they are relatively non-reactive.

Consuming an organic mercury compound such as dimethylmercury is another ballpark. It is highly reactive, absorbed through the skin, mucous membranes and lungs.

It's extremely toxic and 0.1 ml applied to the skin is likely to produce rapid onset symptoms of mercury poisoning if not death.

It's, also, able to permeate through plastic, rubber and latex.

By your reasoning dimethylmercury doesn't contain mercury; it does. The reason for its toxicity is the reactivity of the compound of the compound with other compounds and materials.

Your sodium chloride is a salt (an ionic compound) that is relatively stable and doesn't react that much with other materials.

The reason that it is stable is that both chlorine and sodium are highly reactive atoms and their reaction together has resulted in a very strong chemical bond which doesn't present much opportunity for other atoms/compounds to interact with.

"Get the flu jab at your peril!

There no money to be made from healthy patients. So they make the population ill and reap the profits.

I get it through work, got it the first day they offered it this year. In my opinion it's totally worth it, as even if you don't normally catch flu/get symptoms it reduces your chances of spreading it and making others ill.

Don't get it if you're ill though, I still had a bit of a cold this year and the side effects were much worse than last year.

The scary thing with that statement, is that it could hardly be further from the truth. Most of the anti vax movement is based on the knowledge of people, who have spent their lives researching the vaccination process.

Rapid onset? I was always under the impression the symptoms were often delayed. They have been for every case of accidental exposure I had read about before. However, kind of irrelevant so no need to get too deep into that.

My point is that containing mercury at a molecular level and containing mercury as an ingredient is not the same thing. Dimethylmercury IS dangerous with high risk of mercury poisoning due to how easily it is absorbed and the way it is motabolised but it is still not the same thing as Mercury. That is not a judgement on how dangerous it is. I never said that every compound containing mercury was safe to have injected into you, I was simply pointing out it was possible to have a compound containing mercury that was and giving an example of another compound containing something that would otherwise be dangerous to demonstrate this. I regularly see the claim that vaccines contain mercury and it is done to intentionally spread fear and is untrue.

I wish people offered the flu jab would have it. The less people walking about carrying the flu virus, the less chance of them spreading it to vulnerable people like myself.

You might feel you are strong and don't need it. Maybe it won't affect you too badly as you are fit and healthy. But the people you pass it on to might suffer for months or worse.

You might feel you are strong and don't need it. Maybe it won't affect you too badly as you are fit and healthy. But the people you pass it on to might suffer for months or worse.

Tell that to the big pharma companies who develop this shit and then spray it in the air to make us sick in the first place.
