Male yeast infection

Any lads out there experienced this on their cock ?

Literally tried everything, wash it everyday with no soap like it says on NHS website, tried all the creams and capsules possible, tested for all stis and negative for everything.

Literally cock burns all the time itchy as fuck, rash on the bellend and don't smell the best either.

Anyone had any experience with this and know the best treatment?

I have a cheeky tug everyday without fail maybe I should cut that out a few days and go on a weeks treatment?

Im not a man obviously but if topical creams dont work, GP can prescribe antifungal tablets. First step would be though getting a swab to check if it really is a thrush. Also, maybe you have sugar level problems?

Wash everything on high temp, iron underwear. Cut out sweets from your diet too.

I would definitely go back to the doctor and don't leave until they give you something else, as what they are prescribing you clearly isn't working.

Also, I know you say you've not had sex with someone for ages, I'd still make an appointment for an STI check, just to be on the safe side. These things can lay dormant for a while.

Time to take charge then.

What you’re describing is unusual.

Have you tried the one dose oral thrush treatment?

Have you insisted on being tested for diabetes?

Have you gone to both your GP and the GU clinic?

Have you seen the same GP every time or insisted on seeing another?

Have you been totally honest about your symptoms?

Have you googled the cause of your symptoms and researched the potential causes and treatments?

Is your hygiene impeccable and your living standard awesome?

I didnt suggest it was! But it could be bacterial not fungal? Thats why swab suggestions and tablets. It must be getting you down, no visible improvement for a while and discomfort.. Yogurt brings relief but no evidence it clears it.

North west ish

Go back to your GP's. Make sure you get fully tested for all STI's as well, and tell the GP that it keeps coming back. I know you keep saying you have been to your gp but if it's not cleared up then you may need different treatment. We aren't the experts - that's what your gp is for.

There is more than one treatment for yeast infections; you can get anti fungal tablets as well as creams.

Change your underwear type. Needs be cotton and loose. Need to keep it dry all the time too, do you have precum when aroused through the day? Or dry yourself after urinating? Is the foreskin tight? Can you fully retract the foreskin for a length of time to keep it aired? Changed your diet? Had a recent illness, your reduced immune system can trigger yeast infection. It isn't something you can catch as we all have yeast it's when something is out of balance it will become out of control. It can occur anywhere moist and warm on the body.

It may be a different type of infection that the sexual health clinic doesn't test for so GP visit for swabs would also be your next step and a health check to make sure there's nothing else health wise causing it.

I would second those who have suggested getting tested for diabetes as if you have sugar in your urine it will keep coming back.

Continue to use the cream for a bit after all the symptoms have gone. Wash all your underwear on a really hot wash or if you can afford to even replace it. Same with your towels. Try taking probiotics and reduce the amount of sugar and carbohydrates in your diet.

Buy apple cider vinegar with the mother, spray some on and it will clear up in a day or two.

After that probably go to holland and barret and buy some of that australian tea tree oil stuff, it comes as deoderant, powder etc, that stuff is a better "long term" solution to keep it away as it smells and feels just like soap.

Also if you dont want to do that, just get baby powder, not the normal talc one, that one thats made for nappy rash.

Generally if yeast/fungal infections don't go away with treatment, or return again after clearing up it is highly likely there is an internal fungal infection, or some other health issue like diabetes (as has been said by a few people).

I'm addition to the advice they have given, add Apple Cider Vinegar to your daily diet too.

If you have been stressed for a long period your body ph may have become alkaline .Thus creating a a good enviroment for the yeast . Start taking in more vinegar either drinking or on your food.

Balanitis is an inflammation of the head of the penis. I'm not sure it is that, and in any case, I'm not into remote diagnoses!

You need to go to a SPECIALIST GU MEDICINE CLINIC, not your GP or Practice Nurse. Definitely not Dr Google!! You need to do this asap. The longer you leave it, the worse it will get and the harder it is to treat.

Until you have a diagnosis and have had successful treatment, you should not be meeting anyone (for sex!).

Have you had your blood sugars checked at all? And are you wearing cotton underwear ? Is it your GP you’ve seen or just over the counter ? You might need a different treatment.

If you do have sex use a condom as you will reinfect otherwise.

Ok can't be bothered reading all the replies. But can your foreskin retract fully? It doesn't look like it does. If so sounds more like a case of smegma and you may need to give circumcision some thought as it could be from not being able to wash fully. You say a Dr has tested. Was this at a gp or GU clinic. If it was a GP go to the GU they can look under microscope to see if yeast is present and offer further advise

"There's some fellas on here doing themselves no favours whatsoever in the future meets dept.... "

Thrush isn't an std you can't spread it

Being too clean washing all the time can disrupt the natural good bacteria of the skin, change ph of the skin.

Sweat, and other moisture can increase chance of yeast over growing.

Why is their stigma associated with things like thrush and bv? It's unpleasant and be uncomfortable and sore but doesn't mean they've neglected themselves. It's not from risky behaviour like barebacking. Although for a woman it can trigger both due to change of ph in the vagina from ejaculate.

You can't catch thrush, it's something that just happens so why should it effect anyone's chance of a meet in the future?

Sweat, and other moisture can increase chance of yeast over growing.

Why is their stigma associated with things like thrush and bv? It's unpleasant and be uncomfortable and sore but doesn't mean they've neglected themselves. It's not from risky behaviour like barebacking. Although for a woman it can trigger both due to change of ph in the vagina from ejaculate.

You can't catch thrush, it's something that just happens so why should it effect anyone's chance of a meet in the future? "

Most cases of thrush aren't caught but it can be passed between sexual partners both through penetrative and oral sex.

"There's some fellas on here doing themselves no favours whatsoever in the future meets dept.... "

Rubbish. Most women will have had experience of it themselves at some point in their lives so will have nothing but sympathy for others affected.

I know you said you weren’t seeing anyone at the moment but I used to get thrush every time I had sex using condoms. Many years later I discover this is because I have a latex allergy and since using the non latex ones I have not had thrush due to condoms.

I do usually get it after taking antibiotics though.

Interesting that could be the case but caught it again without having sex

Try changing your washing powder for a while and see if that works, it may be a type of eczema.

Sorry to hear about your trouble, a couple of years back I had maybe a similar thing where I had what appeared to be a rash on my penis and was sore when I passed water. It also cleared up but then came back on its own 2 weeks later and flared up a couple more times. I thought it was thrush as I have had that in the past so knew the symptoms. Went to my sexual health clinic twice over the space of a month and had all the tests and all came back negative for any infection or STI's and suggested the most likely cause was an irritation caused by washing with shower gel or something that was not agreeing with me.

The GP recommended using Cetraben cream every time I shower or use the Cetraben daily cleansing cream instead of soap or shower gel. I now use Cetraben daily cleansing cream for intimate areas whenever I wash or shower, I use normal shower gel for the rest of my body as normal. I have been fine ever since. Maybe that could be a suggestion if not suggested to you before.
