When the slow cooker comes out to provide me and the kids with that gorgeous smell wafting from it as you come in on a dark, cold winters evening knowing you've only got to serve it.

Any ideas recipe wise as I'm always up for experimenting, preferably one with a handful of ingredients not 15

Ooooh yes please, can it be made without a whole chicken as my kids don't like eating off the bone.

Thank you

We usually have it with roasties, broccoli and carrots steam the veg then add it to the slow cooker for the last two minutes just so it mixes well with the sauce

Unstuffed cabbage is a great one: use any tomato based pasta sauce ( I make my own), minced beef or mixed beef and pork, one stock cube, chopped onions and a whole chopped cabbage( or bag of frozen chopped cabbage) . Add cooked rice at the end.

I use no measurements and just chuck stuff together. My sauce is usually lots of garlic, one box of passata, two tins of chopped tomatoes, a blob of purée, basil, oregano, parsley, a dash of red wine or good vinegar, more garlic . I don’t precook anything. As I work from home it’s a bit easier to add things. I’ve followed instructions on how to add rice at the end but often just make it and then stir it in.

Happy to exchange slow cooker recipes as I love using mine. - Mrs

Leg of lamb, pack frozen casserole veg, potatoes, lamb stock, jar mint jelly. Take meat off bone after about 4 hours and pop back in. Lamb gravy granules to thicken. Bloody yum x
