Another meal out at the weekend and again, a dog in the restaurant.

I'm curious to know, when did it become OK for dogs to be in restaurants/cafes?

I totally get pubs and I absolutely get Assistance Dogs but it seems the norm now for owners to bring their dogs into places where people are eating.

You may have guessed that I don't like it but what do others, especially dog owners, think about it?

In a pub I'd say it's fine as long as they're being controlled. In a nice restaurant, not a chance.

What's the big deal. Most dogs are a lot cleaner than some of the urchins i see running around.

I was in a cafe recently and there was a dog in there, it wasn't an issue at all until... A man walked in with a dog, they both started barking at each other and the staff didn't seem bothered. Neither owner did anything, I'm a bit scared of dogs anyway so I left. I think if they are allowed then only one.

Some restaurants do have separate areas where you can take dog's but I assume this was not the case when you went or it was in a pub? As for actual restaurants my understanding is they are not allowed apart from assistance dogs

Some pubs are pet friendly and one by me even has an area to leave the horses. They have a drinking stations for the dogs with free chews and biscuits and it's a good way to get animal friendly people together and a good marketing tool. I am quite miserable and prefer the no dogs, no children pubs and restaurants.

I love dogs but my local country pub on a Sunday is crazy.

Busy pub everyone eating Sunday lunch and every fucking dog in the village is in there

It's a mission just to get to the toilet with all the leads you have to step over.

And when the barking starts its so loud.

I would never take my dog in there it's far to much hassle

No! I don’t want to be seeing dogs in restaurants! Unless it’s an assistance dog.
