"Without doubt we need sleep...vital to a healthy life..trust me, insomnia is the worst thing in the world, all you crave is to sleep...a human body needs downtime...mine used to go a few weeks on 2 hours sleep BUT it would crash n burn and I would sleep for way too many hours in one period..and that was a regular cycle for many years and it's not pleasant " This Average 3-4 hours if lucky, but not all at once, usually in hour or so naps. | |||

"I never get a “decent” night’s sleep as I’m an insomniac, but I’m also a mum, and my oldest child is severely autistic with no sleep pattern, so I can’t rely on anything medicinal to help me as I need to be able to wake should my girls wake, so broken sleep is the norm for me. I once went 73 hours with no sleep, trying to study in uni as she hadn’t slept. I ended up crying and felt physically sick in a lecture- not good. When I eventually qualified I was taken aback by the fact that, in the medical profession, we lecture about the need for sleep and it’s holistic benefits, yet don’t seem to care that our staff are often doing erratic work patterns, and as such have erratic sleep patterns, and ignore the physical and psychological impact that can have on them, and as such the potential negative effect upon our patients. Sleep is a fundamental need, but one we all neglect at times xx I need sleep, but struggle to get it, hence often running on nervous energy, then hitting a wall and feeling overtired and emotional x Viv x" ive had similar but i find that working physically hard really helps me anyway, i still only need a few hours to function properly | |||

You think you function properly because you're used to little sleep but the fact is you're not functioning properly and it's harmful to your health ... says she awake at 4.52 " i function fine im happy even at 3.30am | |||

In the couple of hours respite I get a day I should get a job as a lumberjack or something I’m obviously joking, I only get an hour on a Thursday, and I would hate the footwear, haha. If it works for you then it’s all good, but it’s still something I’d be concerned about. Our bodies need rest and sleep, look after you and make sure you have reserves for if the time comes that you do hit that wall. Recovery time for people who run on empty, if they become ill, can take longer x Viv x | |||
