An interesting thread; I've never seen any of the programmes mentioned as I don't watch television.

Considering how many headlines appear in the newspapers on these very same programmes I'm inclined to think that there may be a Marmite reaction to them?

If you were to create a similar thread for radio programme nominations, I would be straight in with The Archers.

Please make it stop.

I recently rewatched series 1-6 of The Walking Dead, and it was so, so good. TV at its absolute best. It took me the next three series, and halfway through season 9, to sadly admit that it is crap now. They really need to wrap it up anyway they can.

I don't know why we're talking about a radio programme on a thread about TV, but it's a good opportunity to say that I (Luke) just can't abide The Archers.

Hannah knows this well and finds it hilarious how much I dislike it, but she has never listened. She has come to the UK from America and has been spared. I would get her to listen so she can experience this piece of British culture but I don't like to inflict unnecessary suffering.

Haha. No one needs a tv licence.

It's unenforceable.

It's also nothing to do with streaming anything. It's only the BBC services.

This. I can sort of understand the talent shows because there's a skill involved, but TOWIE and Love Island can fuck off. The people on those programmes are some of the most talentless, boring, vain cunts I've ever seen and the more they suck up air time, the more the collective global IQ drops. We must have fallen into the double digits now since TOWIE aired.

The TV Tax is for watching "live broadcast", in other words shows as they are broadcast at a time in any tv listings. Legally catch up or streaming is not live tv, you are choosing what time you watch it. Amazon and Netfix are not live tv, subscribers do not sit and watch shows at a designated time.

Condensed version is anything that is being broadcast live/at a set air time requires a TV license (regardless of the station/channel).

All streaming services, with the exception of bbc catchup and iplayer, do not need a TV license.
