Sunday dinner

Well the weather has turned so the bbq has been cleaned and covered. First sunday dinner of the autumn today. I'm feeding the clan, so I've already done a roast veg and chorizo soup (awesome with some grated gruyere and a crusty loaf!)

Next up is a lemon and tarragon butter chicken, home made roasties, honey roast butternut squash and parsnips, yorkshire puddings and veg.

Making some flambed rum and honey soaked nectarines with ice cream for desert.

What's everyone else having?

In my mind I am having that, in reality I’ve had vertigo since Wednesday so all I fancy today is a bit of rice pudding which is simmering away in the oven

Vegetable Tagine on as we speak. Picked the Tagine up a couple of weeks ago in Morocco along with some spice. Pile it in and slow simmer on a tiny heat leave and eat later.

My inner Gordon Ramsey and mojo had left me today so i was down for something simple like beans on toast when out of the blue my local Balti house owner dropped in a meal from a new menu they are experimenting with.

Said hi to him on my dog walk and he thought I wasn't looking my normal happy self.

There are still some good people out there

Slow cooked chili cooked from scratch with diced steak and minced pork, bacon, toasted cumin seeds, oregano, re-hydrated Ancho and Chipottle chilies, fresh chilies, garlic, fresh tomatoes and black eyed beans.

It's been cooking for 3 hours and a wonderful earthy aroma is beginning to fill the house.
