Feeling glum. Manchester Social tomorrow and I’m on antibiotics for toothache.

Please tell me.

What REALLY happens, if anything, if you drink copious amounts of alcohol with antibiotics?

The antibiotics stop working and you get hammered

"The antibiotics stop working and you get hammered"

Stop working just until I take them the next day? Might as well just forget them for the evening then?

Nothing happens. Most antibiotics don't react with alcohol. Google it or read the instructions

Oh Incandescent! Not the weekend for it. It depends on what antibiotics you're on - at best you'll end up with diarrhea, vomiting and dizziness. You could drink very moderately?

Can’t hou just not drink?

A tooth infection that turns nasty will cause considerable pain and your face may swell. You may also need to have tooth removed if the infection doesn’t go.

What’s more important? Getting pissed or your teeth?

100% agree, one night not drinking vs years and years toothless(worst case) or weeks more pain (best case) if the antibiotics dont work

If it's bad enough to need antibiotics, do you even feel like drinking?

There are a couple of antibiotics which react really badly to alcohol (as in potentially fatal) but most are fine. I would Google to see if your particular medicine is ok with alcohol or not.

Central

Research the specifics of your antibiotics. Failure to take and sustain a complete course of the antibiotics can result in antibiotics resistance, leaving you with uncleared infection but also athis and future infections that are then tougher or even impossible to treat. That resistance can also spread more widely to others. Tooth infections potentially pose serious health risks, as well as tooth loss. I would not risk my health by suspended treatment. It really does depend on the specific treatment.

You don't need alcohol to have a good time at the Manchester social from what I have heard.
