Anyone else struggle to drift off at night?

Struggle most nights - maybe I need a regular to ‘relieve’ tension?

How the fuck can I knock out quick!

All you night owls

I set iplayer going with something mildly interesting as I switch the light out. It’s rare I hear the end of it

Imagine your way through a journey that you know really, really well (have to know it like the back of your hand so it just flows along). I do this if I'm struggling to sleep and very rarely get to the end of it....

Sometimes use a golf course that I know really well and imagine each shot as I would play it.... that usually has me nodding off on the front nine ...

I actually like that idea - I’ll give it a go

Having a hot shower just before knocks me out fast or if I'm in silent darkness usually I drift off fast.

I would love to be any kind of sleeper, light or otherwise. I suffer with severe insomnia, I have done since well always.

Me too. Have you been to a sleep lab?

Not for years. I think they have given up on me. I average 21 hours a week. Its horrendous.

I would recommend listening to my psychology lecturer.

I can do max 3 hours a night. Yep I hate it. I’m sick of hearing ‘oh you can do so much in all that time’... As if my brain is really active at night

I used to sleep well .

But after getting divorced I rarely properly sleep the only time I do is when the kids stay over

The best method I've found though is to do the alphabet in your head but name a animal for each Letter.

If you stick with I does work

I sympathise....I'm the same....I regularly have only 3 or 4 hours sleep a night....

....if I get like 5 or 6 on a very odd occasion (like once a month) then it feels amazing!! Its like the best feeling....but not only happens for me after I've had a long time of really bad sleeping patterns....

I don't think people understand how debilitating it can be.
