Somewhere In The Ether…

A tad random I know, but of all the many actors who have assumed the mantle of Edgar Rice Burroughs famous ape raised hero, who was the best in the role in your opinion? How many do you remember? (Ahem - You there! Yes you! No cheating!)

Christopher Lambert.

Although tbh I can't think of any others apart from the one with Bo Derek as Jane that turned me on when I was watching Ch4 on a portable TV illicitly when my family were asleep. God knows how old I was, but not old enough.

Agree with this - only one who comes anywhere near close is Ron Ely but Johnny Weismuller WAS Tarzan for me

Some fine choices everyone

Random Tarzan Factoid: A number of the actors who played the titular role in the 1960’s were subject to pretty awful locational filming conditions and suffered fairly severe health affects as a direct result.

Similarly, Ron Ely (Doc Savage himself!) sustained multiple injuries during his tenure in the role in the series, including both breaking both shoulders and getting bitten by a real (supposedly tame!) lion(!!!)

As a bonus prize for perhaps not the best Tarzan’s, but prettiest Tarzan has to go to Miles O’Keefe from Tarzan The Ape Man with Bo Derek whilst most manly Tarzan has to be Mike Henry.

Most manly named Tarzan actor however: Jock Mahoney (I mean, Jock - is there any more manly name for Christ’s sake?!)
