Being nervous for our body the symptoms are exactly the same as being excited... Sweaty hands, shaking legs etc... The secret is to trick your brain thinking you are excited... Use 5 second rule...

Take deep breaths, mentally tell yourself, remind yourself why your doing what your doing. Don't be afraid to tell whoever your nervous and take comfort that you can leave or stop at anytime.

Or simply say... "fuck it"

Before a meet? Deep breath, walk in, smile and a firm handshake, then talk! In the knowledge that they will be nervous too, so trying to exude confidence, even if you don't really feel it, will help put them at ease, which will put you at ease, which just makes the world a lovely place

I get terrible nerves but depends on the situation how I deal with it. For meeting that's vamping it up to the max, it's much easier to feel confident in red lips and heels.

Other situations I try focus my breathing and adopt a power pose. Any kind of public speaking though and I need to resort to beta blockers it's that bad!

You can do the 4, 7, 8 technique - breathe in for 4, hold for 7, out for 8. Repeat it a few times. Remember how much you've accomplished so far.

You'll be an absolute star and we're rooting for you. If it gets really bad, SOS and I'll come up with some crappy jokes/gifs/stories.

Depends on the situation. Very rare I get nervous before a meet, only happened once.

In work situations, take a deep breathe, smile and sit on my hands and cross my feet at the ankles otherwise I’ll just fidget. Passes quite quickly though

"How do you deal with them? "

Is it regards a fab meet or more in real world situations ?

If it's fab i would say it's a case of talking and chatting lots so it feels like you're not meeting a stranger.

You could phone them on your way to the meet to get an accurate eta so you arrive just after them and you're not kept waiting.

In the real world if it's presentations to an audience it's all about practise and perpetration, talk slowly and give yourself sections where you can play a video to gain your thoughts and don't forget to breath !!

Take prompt cards, no one cares if you pause to look down and check.

Sometimes you can build in an early finish point if it's going pear shaped but continue if you're happy.

It does get easier the more you do and there's always the old trick of imagining the audience naked

Haha, no. It can be used to help with sleeping I imagine. I do it at work before I see a big client. It helps me be more relaxed and less nervous adrenaline and energy incarnate.

Manchester (she/her)

Breathing techniques/ meditation. Talking it through with someone, getting it out of my system. To some extent trying to rationalise, what's the worst that can happen etc. Plan for a couple of bad eventualities.

Ultimately accept that some level of nerves related discomfort is going to be part of the experience, put on my big girl pants, feel the fear and do it anyway.

Definitely deep, controlled breathing. Find a secluded place if possible. Close your eyes & look up towards the middle of your forehead to help quiet your mind, focus on your breath.

We're hardwired to be nervous, it's a fight or flight thing when we are put into consequential circumstances. As long as you know when to fight and when to run then it's all good. Be nervous. Depending on the situation anyone else involved is likely nervous too, unless it's like an interview but then I would say that most interviewers would take nerves into consideration. Plus when you're nervous you're not cocky, cockiness looks worse than nervous I find

There and to the left a bit

Depends what it is really - sometimes I'll just adopt the brazen it out and get on with it approach, sometimes I'll just avoid the situation that's making me nervous, others I'll seek someone to talk it through with and try and get a semblance of reassurance.

Positive affirmations! Sometimes a good breathing technique does the job. I like one called golden thread. Grounding exercises are good.. when you find few things you can see, hear, smell, etc. To distract your mind in its anxious state. And being prepared. Whatever it is. Assuming it is something planned?

Deep breaths and suck it up, nerves generally leave after you e started what you're nervous about.

Taking your mind off it is one of the best ways, keep your mind busy..maths, singing songs in your head....you'll figure your own way!
