I've just seen a tweet from some 80's nostalgia account asking if you remember the banana splits etc..

They go on to say "whoever came up with the idea was on something stronger than coffee!!"

I don't get why people jump to this conclusion, just because you can't imagine something doesn't mean someone else couldn't.

Dunno what the point of the thread is, post what you like

I sometimes watch movies, especially scary ones and think the writer's mind must be an interesting place!

I only worked out the other day that Saw was short for Jigsaw.

I was in Thorpe park today and curiously the same question came up in our friend group regarding the creativity of designing a rollercoaster...

"I often wonder what the thought process was behind Human Centipede "

I'll make an assumption and say it began with a conversation about what's the most fucked up thing we could make a film about, they discussed this over cold milk and Nutella sandwiches

Alien was a dream that the creator had.

I wouldn't have ever slept again

Whatever, I still loved this programme as a sprog, and always wanted one of their buggies

I still have the theme tune as my ring tone

Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett. It was Ronald that had inspiration after a dream (re the impregnation aspect).

Now oddly enough I read something in a horrible histories book about world war 2 the other day, about a German scientist who was obsessed with twins, he used to sow people together to attempt to create Siamese twins. I'd put money on that scientist giving the creators of the Human centipede a little inspiration.

Interesting that it's that aspect, the alien hiding in the dark seems like a nightmare, is would have guessed that was the inspiration

I'm usually more in awe of people with such creative minds. I'd love a glimpse into Charlie Brooker's head when he's coming up with a Black Mirror.
