Reading the profile.

Surely it can’t be just us that REALLY gets the hump when people simply don’t read a profile before messaging ?

We aren’t up ourselves, don’t think we are all that, just have a very simple “wish list”. And when our profile is preceded with “not meeting atm due to health problems” surely anyone with a modicum of common sense wouldn’t ignore that and ask for a meet anyway?

I’m sure many take the cold calling approach of if you knock enough doors regardless someone will answer.

But aye, agree.

The Midlands

Chancers the lot of them.

Reading and understanding people's profiles and preferences is essential for me. It's the frist point of contact and where that first spark of interest begins.

Not reading a profile or ignoring what is written, demonstrates a lack of respect to those who are messaged and character of those who do it.

It's not just you.

We recently asked a guy if he'd actually read our profile.

Yes, 6 times he said.

He'd winked. We say don't bother winking.

He'd sent a friend request. We say don't send them.

He sent a cock pic. We say don't send them.

He didn't send a face pic. It's the only thing we ask for.

Skim reading while typing one handed and scrolling through the pics, I get you might miss a bit of info.

But to indignantly claim to have read it 6 times??? Fuck off, that's bollocks.

Would agree with this, you only need to read the first few lines of mine to see if it’s worth reading on or sending me a message.

OP why not hide your profile if messages irritate you ?

People might be contacting you to arrange a meet for when you have recovered from the illness.

Not judging by the content of the messages. And why would a straight guy contact us with a cock pic when those are two things we aren’t looking for ? I get the hiding profile point. But why should the onus be on us to hide a profile that states exactly what we are and are not looking for ?

There are always chancers who don’t think it applies to them. You could meet when ill and sneeze in their face. They could hardly complain.

Ah this is always a problem on fab

My profile has changed over the years and gone from 7 years ago ‘happy newbie a little about me’ to now ‘slightly demanding shouty Bitch’ haha

Not because I actually am a shouty demanding Bitch (well ok has been known on occasion ) but it’s really because it just would be so nice if my profile was read , understood and then used to decide whether or not it’s worth messaging me haha

I don’t want to waste anyone’s time if they aren’t what I’m looking for just as much as I really don’t want to have to waste my time replying they aren’t

The joys of fab lol

Hiding in the shadows

In a recent message exchange, I asked a chap if he read profiles before sending messages.

I was told I should lower my expectations, if I wanted to do well on here

Sorry, I'm not lowering anything, especially not the 6" I'd have to bend to talk to him!

If the main profile text discusses meeting it's confusing.

If the 'looking for' list is full, the profile shows up on searches.

To unsolicited Friend Requests;

Thanks for the Friend Request, have we met?

Yes. Liar. Block.

No response. Block.

No, but I'd like to see your friends only pictures. Thanks for the honesty. Block.

Rinse and repeat.

Depending on time and mood it can be good sport.

99% of the time we're going straight to block.

The site provides tools to alleviate unsolicited messages. Your choice whether you choose to use them or not op.

I started a thread called junk mail a while ago.. it basically said in the real world you receive junk mail on here you can block incoming mail , if you choose not to block your mailbox you have to accept some junk mail just like in the real world

Hmmmm, what would I do.

If we're planning to meet (as we currently are) we welcome unsolicited messages.

We do nothing more than wish they read our profile.

It's pretty fucking simple.

Yes, we could look ourselves. It's a lot more simple and time effective (for us) to accept incoming messages And sort the wheat from the chaff.

When i looked at your profile op,you not meeting was the first thing that stood out.

We get the same from couples friends requests with no contact, winks from couples with 100 female pics and none of male.

I don't know what the answer is ,maybe block people messaging for a while and keep in touch with friends /prospective meets.

There is a thing called search yourself though, if for any reason the profile doesn't interest you move on to ond that does.

Or

Do nothing different.

Einstein said to do the same things o er and over and expect a different result is insane.

Choices are there, up to folk what they choose to do.

I'm not quite sure you grasped my point.

I do, do my own searches, and if I spotted someone I liked the look of then yes I'd message them

My comments here were in line with the original OP.

About people not reading profiles, sending messages to people they are totally incompatible with.

Despite stating a height preference it gets ignored.

Yesterday, for example. A gentleman 5'3" messaged me... That's a full 8" below what's on my profile

I can choose to block messages from folks, but height isn't one of the options

We do/have. I don't know be we seem to get far more unsolicited friend requests than I guess would expect. I can only assume because have profile pic and one public, personally I have no interest in anyone just dribbling over our pictures, take that how you may .

So they think we'll just open up our privates to them with no kind of introduction. Also to many friend lists are like ASBOs, badges of honer to show how popular they think they are . If you want to see us simply contact us, get to know us. If you only want to do that because of our pictures then, your not the kida folks we particularly want to meet

You can block genders so no messages and be proactive.. its often said "effort in rewards out" or change nothing and like I said up there ^^^ you'll have to accept some junk mail, just like you get in the real world and it goes straight in the bin.
