We are buggering off to Majorca on Monday and have all the packing to do , I think we’ve got everything we need but just wondering if any of you have any tips on anything you have taken on holiday that’s unusual but invaluable?

remember that toiletries and even a lot of clothes can often be bought cheaper at your holiday destination. Save weight and bulk buying local and then leave it in your room in lieu of a cash tip for the housekeepers.

If not already advised, roll rather than fold your clothes, bring and extension cable and one travel plug if you have a lot of plug in appliances, saves on lots of plugs. If you have a case each, put some items of each other's clothes in both cases, just incase one ends up in Siberia.

Wrong! If you stack rolls there are gaps between them. There are no gaps between flat layers.

I carry a vacuum flask of hot tea. I use it on the way to the airport, and empty what’s left before going through security. Then I get it re-filled at an air-side restaurant. I can have a hot drink whenever I like, in departures and on the aircraft, not just when the air hostesses get around to it. From home to Bangkok usually takes more than 24 hours, and I can’t sleep on aircraft because there isn’t enough leg-room.

I agree but I find the waterproof canoe bags are much better. Harder wearing, come in different sizes and colours, properly waterproof and once rolled up they have a clip that can attach to other bags or be used as a handle. Can usually pick them up fairly cheap at outdoors or sports shops

Not an issue in Majorca but when I go to Greece or Turkey I always take scented nappy bags for the loo paper. Better than putting it straight into the bin.

Not packing what you don't need, making the luggage lighter and more room on the way home in the bags for ceramic donkeys etc isn't much of a packing tip? You're a harsh critic
