Continue here, it is interesting to see what we all are doing and what is your fitness goal? I am going this week, but I am having a rest day today. I go 3 times a week and I do a full body workout. I do cardio everyday and my goal is to get to bulk up, here is a good tip, did you know that your body dont run on a 24hr clock when it comes to calories? It is the weekly total that is more important to reach. I use mynetdiary to track my macros, do you track macros?

Here is an intetesting fact, did you know that the dip is more affective than the bench press? Yes it activates more muscle fibres

"Here is an intetesting fact, did you know that the dip is more affective than the bench press? Yes it activates more muscle fibres "

It's not more effective, per se but it does produce greater emg in the target muscles , but motor unit activation is not the only component of effective

I love dips however I use 40 kg on body weight for intense reps

Hiding in the shadows

After taking the summer off, due to health-Ish related issues, I'm back.

I've piled on a few lbs, the fitness level has dropped dramatically.

I've done 2 Bounce classes this week, plus a couple of cardio sessions.

Seriously never laughed at myself so much.

I have the grace of a baby elephant & vertigo.

So yeah, leaping round on a teeny tiny trampoline is a huge challenge.

My resting HR is 52, I hit 179 in this mornings class

I feel motivated for the first time in months

I'll be there around 4.30 working delts, traps and triceps in that order. Probably start off with barbell, behind neck shoulder press/ dumbbell side lateral raise super sets, then take it from there.

I was very dedicated to the gym for a few years. Completely transformerd my body. Was incredibly skinny until my early 20s. Used to love the compliments people gave me that I hadn't seen in a while. Right now though I'm struggling for motivation. The past year I've been lazy on and off training like a lightbulb.. got burnt out from it all I think. Did go yesterday and will go today . Diet is the hardest part . Hard gainer so my food consumption is tiring.

Started back last week, was raring to go this morning.

But I've been stuck in all day waiting on various plumbers, electricians to look at my shower

Fingers crossed the one due 'first thing' tomorrow actually arrives on time & gets the job done

I'll have to do a double session to catch up

I am continuing with my workout regime. It's a cross between GVT crossfit and HIIT. Sits based on 4 workouts a week. 3 based on one of the 3 lifts (bench, squat or deadlift)Then add in another complex movement, an isolation exercise and short burst of cardio. Then finish off whatever body part I am training. Final workout of the week is generally a condiotioning/core/stretch. I also bike around 20 miles a week and run a couple of times a week. Working upto 5k, but carrying a 20kg rucksack.

Typical leg workout

10 rounds of:

10 x squats

8x wide grip chin ups

20 narrow grip pressups

1 min speed rope

5 rounds of

20 leg press

Drop set leg extension

Drop set seated thigh curl

1km run

Was training 6 days a week till a bout 4 months ago. 3 x weights and 3x running.. Then I blew my knee. So currently can't do and leg work, my routine is currently

Mon, chest + shoulders

Wed, back and should be legs.

Fri, biceps and Triceps.

3-4 exercise per body part

3 sets per exercise

Rep range 12-8

Always go heavy..

Currently 270lb (just under 19and a half stone but as I'm 6 foot 4 I can hold it)around 27% body fat. Would like to get my BF down to the low 20s but can't see that happening anytime soon.

And have been called a unit on more than 1 occasion.

Interesting. Either way, just watch those rotator cuffs, doing dips, folks. Too deep or bad technique can really f**k them. (I'm not implying either of the posters above don't already know that,by the by! But I do see people doing the old hands behind you between two chairs dip, online, and I wince.

I bruised a load of my ribs at the weekend, so it's a week if cardio until it feels better.

Today was 20 mins bike (on random setting, didn't let rpm drop below 100. Got heart rate to stay between 170-175) did some stretching then 15 mins cross trainer. Would have done more but the gym was getting packed.

I went yesterday and changed all my loads, partly because I'm bored and curious. All weights reduced by @25%, but reps increased by 50%. I definitely felt the difference. What can I expect, just plateau somewhere else, pulled muscles, cardiac arrest?

I was reading the motivational slogans on the walls. Things like 'walking upstairs uses the same muscles as lunges and squats', and even on the back of the loo door it says 'every squat counts'

Maybe I should just walk to the upstairs loo, take a dump and call it good?

Betty Rocker has an awesome, online, 30 day (free) challenge. It is awesome... No equipment needed and takes just 15 mins per day... I do it in my undies at the end of the day

Spinning tonight. Been doing 3 days of weights and 1 day of cardio for the last month.

Trying to get my weight down a bit first before going on a sensible bulk over winter to cut again for the summer next year

I joined the gym this week. Going to start next Monday.

In my mid 20s I could fit into a 30 inch pair of jeans, now it's 40, time to cop myself on and get back to where I used to be.

Not today. Been 3 times this week, may go tomorrow if I'm recovered enough.

7 weeks into a 15 week strength block, all is good, moving in the right direction to smash through a 700kg powerlifting total next year in May

It's when you plateau that the cool hard maths and consistent diet become important

For you I estimate

An average daily of 1800 cal

32 fat percent 32 percent carb and 36 protein

For around 230 days , giving you 20 ish easy days to spread

Yup. I'm there first thing in the morning. We're doing more work on my lifting. I'm pretty chuffed with my progress albeit slow it's such an improvement since start of summer.

"Here is an intetesting fact, did you know that the dip is more affective than the bench press? Yes it activates more muscle fibres "

Have you tried dipping 20 stone

I benched 100kg last night (buzzing)

I dead lift 210kg and 140kg squat

Although dodgy knee at the mo so just upper body for a while

Aiming to drop 5 stone and get back running 10k a week

Not bad for a 45yr old ??

That is good going for you and no I havent dipped that weight. I dip my own at 74kg. I like to switch what I do with the dip, sometimes with added weight and other times with a 4 seconds down and 4 seconds up body weight
