"Back in the early 70's when I was looking at a career in Retail management, I'd an interview at Littlewoods HQ. Part of the process was in a very large room, sitting in a chair, facing 5 people at a long desk in front of me. But all around the room, were about a dozen other HR people, whose job it was to record how many times I touched my face, moved my hair, stumbled over any questions or answers, coughed, cleared my throat and so on. That process was 90 minutes long. I failed it! Their conclusion was- I was a nervous type. Ye Gods, I was only 18 at the time. " I had one similar with about 10 people all staring at me round a table My brain switched off and I couldn’t speak Had to leave the room

"The one where I forgot my name and then had a panic attack. Another where I had to teach a lesson to my class of 6&7 year olds, I was applying to take the permanent position. I couldn’t count to 5. Still can’t live that down 7 years on from my then teaching assistant" Blimey, at least that sets the bar low for calling mine a success!!

"Thank you for all the well wishes Mine is at 11, sure it will be fine, it’s for an internal promotion so shouldn’t be too horrific..." Hope it went OK I wasted 13 years of my professional life at Halfords head office and never managed to get promoted, because I was always conscious that the interviewer could, if they wanted, contradict anything I was saying. Or at least have their own take on things. I find it easier being interviewed in new places, and even then it's not easy as I don't always feel comfortable about new people (which doesn't bode well on a site like this ) I guess I'm just crap at interviews

"Went for an interview on Monday and one of the first things he said to me was, “we don’t like you guys from the rail as you take cargo off the road”... I didn’t get the job " I ever understand why they invite you for interview in the first place if they have prejudices like this. I'm always tempted to bill them for the time taken and travel expenses

I did say to him that we shouldn’t waste each other’s time further but I think he knew he’d made a mistake and insisted that we continue... Total waste of time
