The wonderful city of Liverpool

So, work takes me to Liverpool next week for three days, a city I don't really know at all. So you lovely lot, while work will keep me busy during office hours, what's on the list of places I should go visit, drink or eat at during my free time? Recomendations greatly appreciated. I will be in a city centre hotel without a car so recommendations of central places would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There’s so much to do in the centre and nothing is a far walk at all.. Mathews st, buttons, caven club, Albert dock .. at least 3 witherspoons in town .. you’ll find somewhere good

Its my fave town to visit love it there for obvious reasons its ice to looks at too in places theres some lovly sights room 103 in the village hotel is especially good and there like this hill where tour busses go gives you a nice view of the city and the beach is great too

You be got to see the liver building if you're coming to Liverpool and it's right on the docks so you can easily do the Albert docks, the liver building and the pier head in an hour or two. Bear with me on this one but I personally love the cemetry at the Anglican cathedral. It's a park as well and it's built in and old quary and the view up the face of the cathedral from that angle is phenomenal.

For central places to drink I would recommend the grapes on roscoe street or if you like the Beatles, the jacaranda is where they used to drink.

If you have time for a 10 minute taxi journey (they're cheap here too) then take a trip to Lark Lane. Gorgeous street of bars, restaurants and independent shops and Sefton park is right at the end.

Of you wanna travel just outside the city centre.....Sefton Oark is lovely to walk around....as Crosby Beach!!!

but all of the above are excellent too...

Defo do Matthews Street and the Cavern Club....and the Docks!!

Both cathedrals are gorgeous of a night when lit up. So is the waterfront x

Looking up at the Liver building all lit up at night while waiting at the traffic lights as I come out of the dock exit of the mersey tunnel on the way home from work is one of the only times I prefer winter.

Mowgli does Indian food like you've never had before. Street food and small portions of curry so you can try a few.

La Parrila does amazing and enormous portions of Mexican food.

Villa Romana and Casa Italia are both incredible small Italian restaurants.

Almost famous - amazing burgers but be prepared to have it all over your face

For quick and easy try either Caribou poutine as mentioned above or American Pizza slice at the end of bold street.

My personal favourite is down the hatch but it's vegetarian and vegan and I don't eat meat. The food is amazing though.

Great advice from Lacey here, used to live near Lark lane and its a great place, every kind of food you can want.

If you take her advice on the cathedral too, the anglican one allows you go up to the roof, fantastic views of the city from there - failing that get lost around Matthew street bars and the dock area, plenty of things to see and people to meet!

If youre a pizza lover then you need to visit Santa Maluco - a pizza roditzio...

Mowgli is incredible, (as is the lady who owns the chain btw - so inspiring)

And the Neon Jamon!

If you cant decide on a particular type of food, find the baltic market and you can experience the foodhall there which always has incredible choices!

Just to add to this btw - they do a vegan version of a KFC zinger tower burger...

If you had your eyes closed you 110% wouldnt know you werent eating the real thing, it tastes far better! Im not a vegan and regularly eat here its so good

The only thing on in Townhouse those days is Buxom Babes on Thursday evening.

If you do a what's for Liverpool there's shit loads on musically if you're into club scene. 24 Kitchen Street is decent and there's lots of other things on too as it's Freshers week too.

I suspect at 20 most adults are. It's as much a heads up as anything else as I've unwittingly found myself out in the past when this mass mobile crèche was in situ and its not great. All part of the learning process they say lol

Just because it hasn't been mentioned yet castle street has a nice mix of bars and restaurants along it. It a pretty compact city centre so one end say hard man St or hope street down to the docks is only a 20 min walk so have a wander and explore

The Town by The Cross

As you are only here for three days and you are working, i'd forget the sight seeing touristy stuff.....

Stick to the free nights in Hot Water Comedy Club in Hardman St. and one or two other venues.

For food there are a zillion places. Avoid the Wetherspoons apart from the one on Lime St as each attracts very different types of people.

If you are there Sat or Sun kill another free hour or two in the morning in the Baltic quarter. There's a market to browse and street food.

Museums and art galleries are free. Use the TATE at the Albert Dock ( but don't shop at the dock it's for twats ) Use the world museum and the museum of liverpool and the Walker art gallery.

Swingers club = Townhouse on the Wirral. So you'd have to get a local train or a ferry over the river.

Shops are shops in any city so give them a wide berth.

Don't go to Lark Lane ffs..... it's ONE street that's a good bus ride from the city centre... and it's not all that. A bar is a bar and you'll have a zillion on your doorstep.

He was here last week. It used to be a good night in there though a bit touristy, a shit pint and overly priced. I'll bow to your superior knowledge mind cos I've not been for at least 10 years and I've not had a bevy since 2006. Lol
