Our profile clearly states no black/Asian males. It’s personal preference, not racism. I have black and Asian friends, my best man was Asian there is just no attraction to black or Asian men and we wouldnt meet someone if there was no attraction.

I don’t think it’s racist but I also think there’s no need to state it on a profile. If I did see it it would put me off the person to be honest coz I’d just think why put that. simple fact is, a persons preference is their prefference is has nothing to do with race colour size or anything if thats what they are into then let them be into it why pigeon hole people and make something out of something its not.

I find that is often the real problem, people seeing things that are just not there and making a big thing about it

I want to meet a blue-eyed blonde, and that's because where I'm from, there aren't any native blue-eyed blondes. For me, it's purely a physical, not societal reason. Is that being racist or is it not just a preference. I've seen it but never stated just like that, it's usually qualified clearly by saying it's a preference as they just don't do it for them, same with saying not interested in Asian, African or even Caucasian.

I don't think one should be looking to assume it's a racist comment though sometimes it could be better worded. What's accepted language today won't be tomorrow either unfortunately.

I've always wondered if BBC also includes South Asians and native Australians. How dark does the skin have to be to fit that preference would an Egyptian or Tunisian count if he was dark enough? Same for white. Would a well tanned Italian fit the BWC preference? I wonder where the line is drawn.

We are always biased by our own perspectives and experience and I haven't really seen any change here over 10 years - that's my biased viewpoint. It will vary by area as well as gender I'd assume. It may be that in the ops area there is a disproportionately high level of people who have a preference for other races.

We cannot say that people who don't want sex with specific racial groups are racist. Some may be but everyone is free to share their body on their terms always.

Racist comments and behaviour aren't tolerated here, so always report users if they do this.

If it's a local issue, it may be that some previous locals have caused problems - we'll never know.

The good thing with clear statements is that it saves you wasting your time, so you can focus on those who may be matched.

I've often pondered do people have to state racial preference on their profile? On one hand it helps prevent time wasting (on both side) and we do happily state other preferences. But on the other hand I understand the argument to do so may be upsetting to some. I don't think it's racism per see (I'm sure there's some, aware or not) but possibly insensitive even if just being pragmatic. But at least it helps build up a picture of the person your viewing and thus let's you see if they are for you or not. Afterall the option to state racial preference is upto the individual. So if they have stated a preference this may tell you a bit about them and if they are for you or not in terms of their outlook and personality (As well as racial preference). Sadly however much we may fancy the look of someone they are some times just not for us and/or vice versa. No one is obliged to fancy us or be our type.

Oh yes but in that case if they stated it, it is totally illogical to complain about others who do not see it the same way.

Basically they have the right to have preferences and to state them to 'save' time but the ones who are excluded of those preferences should just shut up.

People should be able to state their race preference without being convicted of being racist. However, if people choose not to date an entire race, then we feel it’s questionable, regardless if they’re black or white.

Its a choice/preference isnt it? I had the same on my profile when i was looking 'white pale british/European only' doesnt mean im racist but white pale skin attracts me, dark or even tanned doesnt.

Well I guess it is way more complicated than a simple explanation and my explanation may be biased by my point of view. And I am not informed enough to answer that.

I aways read the racisum threads with a tinge of sadness, amusement and interest. Unles you have personally exsperianced prejudice can't you really appreciate how upsetting and the effects it can have on someone, so I will always try and understand where people's feelings are coming from. However, as individuals we fancy who we fancy. Personally there are no generalised factors that prevent me from meeting people, it depends on them as an individual and if there's a spark. If people state they won't meet me because of a general characteristics like the colour of my skin. It is beyond my control and their loss, as they will miss out on a fun meet. The upside is I can block them so, no longer in my searches.

Often when having a debate or even just offering an opinion it comes to light that I'm Welsh.

What often happens next is 'sheep' jokes come out.

It doesn't hurt and I'm sure the person/s saying mean it as 'banter' but I think it's a cousin or racism.

Dosent mean I am correct to think so but it's one of the last few stereotypes that still seems to be accepted.

Do ppl of colour actually wish to shag ppl they view as racists or something? Surely regardless of whether saying you prefer sex with a certain physical type is viewed as racist or not, it's at least doing both sides a favour in identifying that neither of you wish to penetrate each other with your sexy bits, no.....?
