Coming from a loved one is fine but from someone else is just annoying, weird and uncomfortable

It depends on the situation and the tone of delivery. At work I can't stand babes. Or flower. But out of it I don't really mind them. Regional dialects and generational sayings. I try not to get irked by them. Maybe hun though. I'm not a "hun" type of woman.

Depends on what part of the country you come from. As far as I'm concerned, such words are just a part of where I grew up. I tend to call men, mate or pal, and women chuck, Chucky, or my lovely.

It's never ment particularly for the individual,but a generic, non threatening and friendly greeting.

Il also add though even when people make the effort to try use appropriate pronouns to be snapped at and told no it's their, them or it when it's easier to be told what pronoun they want than people guessing.

Having a guy calling you babe in the chatroom and he's just called someone else babe. It's patronising, lazy, inconsiderate and shows they lack any respect. Being overly intimate before getting to actually know someone is a huge turn off also.
