Message etiquette

Is there some kind of unwritten rule / way to be polite? Of course i understand not everybody can respond to every message and get that a deleted message should be taken as a no (although i do think thats pretty rude and deserves at least a no thanks) but what about read messages that arent deleted? Do i take that as they are interested but cant reply right now?

I understand no reply can seem rude however when u receive over 100 messages a day it’s impossible to reply to every single one of them

No reply is a no thanks. I generally don't delete my messages. If I read a message and want to reply later I'll mark it unread.

It's not worth the questions or potential abuse that comes from sending someone a polite no thank you message

Different people will have different reasons for reading and not deleting. Looking for a single answer won't get you anywhere.

One may have you as a possible but not yet, another may be waiting to show you to their partner.

One may be waiting for their regular bulk cleanup of their messages, another may be waiting for the site to do it for them.

Just keep being polite and respectful. You're not guaranteed a reply, but it's much more likely than if you are rude and disrespectful.

I think too many people often lose sight that this is the internet. You know nothing of the person you wish to contact aside from what they've written in their profile. If they don't reply, they don't reply. No use dwelling too much on it. Move on as there are people aplenty around.

Everyone is different, if message is boring but i like the look or profile of someone it means that im leaving door open to do better. I will say no thanks and instantly block if not.

I take a no reply as a polite no thank you, don’t dwell on it, even if you think you’d be a good match, if they don’t, it won’t work.

The only etiquette you need to know OP is that if you get a reply you get a reply and it's because your message was worthy of a reply - sweating anything else just isn't worth worrying yourself with - definitely not worth trying to second guess how the diverse group of people that make up Fab manage their inboxes

I only think its rude if the message isnt deleted....if you have no interest and dont want to reply then just delete it. Pretty simple isnt it? That way both parties know where they stand

But both parties know where they stand if they keep the message read but not deleted - the recipient knows they've read it and gets to keep a record of it in case a second message is sent - the sender knows they've sent it and it's been read but not replied to.

Nothing else needs to be known unless at some point the recipient decides to reply.

Some people keep their messages so if at a later date the sender sends a second message they can see that is the case, and in some instances if the senders original message was rude or abusive it can help remind the recipient why they didn't reply first time round.

As I said before the ONLY thing you need to know as the sender is that you've not had a reply - worrying about anything else is pointless.

Fact is, single guys accounts swamp and ruin this site for many genuine people. Now I don't know what you are looking for on here but there's a solid reason the majority of couples accounts block single males and it's not because they're not willing to play with them.

Deal with it and move on. It's a numbers game and most dont care what you think is rude or not because we have plenty of rude to wade through ourselves. Not's not being mean about it, it's simply a reality of the situation.
