Rarely seem to smile in face pics?

Do you all have horrendously bad teeth you're hiding?

The majority of face pics sent to me seem to fall into either the 'I'm about to cry' or the 'I'm about to kill you' category.

Guys we want to meet fun people for fun times!! Smile ffs!!

There and to the left a bit

Personally I find smiling to order (e.g. for a face pic) incredibly difficult and unnatural - when I try to it comes out as a gurn - the best face pics of me are the ones where I'm not aware of the pic being taken and am caught naturally.

Best I can manage in a selfie is "enigmatic" and that usually takes a number of goes!!

Because they feel self conscious about smiling? I like seeing smiles but that awkward grimace when it's not natural is a vag drier.

Why is that though? Has society told them it's wrong to try to present themselves well in photos? That it's somehow not manly? Is that why so many just prefer to take dick pics... Because a dick is unquestionably manly?

I think there's a lesson, and it's aimed at everyone but more at men, that presenting yourself well is bad, vain, and a sign of stupidity (think about attitudes to selfies in general). So where you have to practice looking good, people are reluctant to. Men more so.

Why force a smile for a selfie? Just take one when you are genuinely smiling and happy and use that! Or use one someone else took of you on such an occasion We live in an age where everyone seems to photograph everything... Finding a photo with a smile shouldn't be so difficult

It can make such a difference can't it? I'm far more likely to respond to a smile than anything else. Even if it's just a note to thank them and remind them that I'm not meeting. If I see a face glowering at me though I'll likely not reply at all for fear they'll respond with a horribly insulting 'fuck you' type message.

I prefer my resting "I'm going to break you face". Though I feel compelled to put up the odd manic grin just to show I do smile.

Maybe it's because a false smile looks unnatural. It's hard posing for cameras, for many of us it feels unnatural and vain. Trying to capture a sincere smile is difficult and usually best done by another person.. when you're unaware you're being photographed/recorded.

The only way I pull it off myself is when I'm finding something funny in real world.. and manage to whip my phone out quick enough for that moment to be fresh in my mind.Pose feels slightly easier.

"Rarely seem to smile in face pics?

Do you all have horrendously bad teeth you're hiding?

The majority of face pics sent to me seem to fall into either the 'I'm about to cry' or the 'I'm about to kill you' category.

Guys we want to meet fun people for fun times!! Smile ffs!!

Haha, I've thought this many times, think men are just awful at taking pics in general, selfies in particular

No all men lol . I know a man who takes amazing pics especially boudoir. But then again it is his profession lol "

Not all indeed. I've had some lovely smiles sent to me over the years, some of which I've ended up locking lips with in person, which is why my post very carefully said 'the majority' of pics sent to me, rather than 'all'. Some guys are very adept at photography (my hotlist is chock full of them!), as are some women. It comes easier to some than others... But as far as smiles go, even if you don't have photography skills yourself, everyone has mates who snap away... Poke through their FB or Insta and find one of you that you like!

Absolutely. We live in a society where it does seem to be seen as 'unmanly' to take a good photo of yourself. Yet, we live in an online age where promotion of one's self is done mostly through images. It's counter-intuitive.

Perhaps they're going for the moody and mysterious look, and not the psycho killer

I hate taking selfies at the best of times and always seem to be a bit contrived or forced

Informal or casual shots are the best "

Agreed... If someone isn't comfortable taking selfies, they shouldn't feel forced to. You can see it in the pic anyway most of the time. But everyone must have access to friends' and family's photos and be able to find at least one of themselves with a smile they can crop to use.

Sometimes the smile is even real... Once in awhile.

Why force a smile for a selfie? Just take one when you are genuinely smiling and happy and use that! Or use one someone else took of you on such an occasion We live in an age where everyone seems to photograph everything... Finding a photo with a smile shouldn't be so difficult

Because people don't tend to photograph me and when I take my phone out I concentrate, which turns on my concentration face. So I have to fake a smile. "

Best I can manage in a selfie is "enigmatic" and that usually takes a number of goes!!

Maybe it's because a false smile looks unnatural. It's hard posing for cameras, for many of us it feels unnatural and vain. Trying to capture a sincere smile is difficult and usually best done by another person.. when you're unaware you're being photographed/recorded.

The only way I pull it off myself is when I'm finding something funny in real world.. and manage to whip my phone out quick enough for that moment to be fresh in my mind.Pose feels slightly easier."

"I think there's a lesson, and it's aimed at everyone but more at men, that presenting yourself well is bad, vain, and a sign of stupidity (think about attitudes to selfies in general). So where you have to practice looking good, people are reluctant to. Men more so.

Absolutely. We live in a society where it does seem to be seen as 'unmanly' to take a good photo of yourself. Yet, we live in an online age where promotion of one's self is done mostly through images. It's counter-intuitive.

Yes. But I think that's part of the answer. People and especially men are discouraged from figuring out how to do it, and for many it takes work.

But don't we encourage them here all the time? Every day there are countless threads asking to see torsos and thighs, butts and bulges and plenty are happy to participate... Is a smile maybe too personal I wonder?

Face pics in public are a bit much for many people here. There is face pic Friday.

Smile Sunday? "

Love this idea!!!

"could say the same about women why do they pout or even worse those stupid fillters what are you trying to hide are yous to ugly to take a proper pic "

Possibly... You'll have to wait for someone who pouts or uses them though to give you a definitive reply.

"And the winner of todays have a go at single guys award ...goes to..

Their profile, their choice.

If for whatever reason you don't find the profile or message appealing hit back and move on to one that does.

Who mentioned single guys? Or profiles?

You did in your op..^^^.

"Guys we want to meet fun people for fun times!! Smile ffs!!"

Ok.. its their picture (and or profile) its their choice. Don't like it move on. Simples.

See previous reply.... Single males were not, ermmm, singled out, and neither were profiles. I can only comment on what is sent to me, not what I haven't seen. "

Ahh you must have mistyped folk when you typed "guys", in your op.

Its their picture(s) their choice, you may prefer a smile on a picture thats your choice, like I said up there if you don't like something for any reason you can move on .. unless things have changed while I was asleep no one can dictate what other folk do.

"I hate my smile. I'm very self concious about it at the best of times. And as I don't have that hollywood smile, it makes things even worse.

If you are unfortunate enough to get my mugshot in your inbox, rest assured I agonised for ages about sending it...

I have had it and actually your smile was one of the ones that stood out from the 40+ pics I was sent last Friday! "

Aww bless you! That cheered me up no end!

Its still their (men, guys or I'll add all other genders to be all inclusive) choice

don't like what their choice was.. you can choose what to do next.., let others run their profile, their pictures their way..and you do it your way.

"I prefer my resting "I'm going to break you face".

You have a beautiful smile. I smile when I see it... I sometimes take a selfie while doing so "

There and to the left a bit

"Personally I find smiling to order (e.g. for a face pic) incredibly difficult and unnatural - when I try to it comes out as a gurn - the best face pics of me are the ones where I'm not aware of the pic being taken and am caught naturally.

Best I can manage in a selfie is "enigmatic" and that usually takes a number of goes!!

You've a great smile G!

Naturally maybe - to order for a selfie not so much - as an experiment I shall try a teeth showing smiling one and upload shortly...watch this space

There you go - take a look at that and tell me it doesn't scream gurning psycho killer at you!!

Nope! Not even a hint of psycho! "

I see you have said now you meant ANY man. Either way you are talking about men in general and not females

In answer to your OP, I think there seems to be a lot of men who don't smile for pics ( in real life too ) Maybe they don't want to force a smile in case they look like the killer you describe in your OP

I am a female who rarely smiles for pics.

It’s because I feel like a dork when I smile and pretty when I don’t. G rarely smiles in pics unless he’s just done something amusing like pulling faces . Some people don’t like their face when they smile for pics.

Central

People seem to forget that they can look much more relaxed, natural and smile more if others take their photos.

Some husbands have a wife that they spend most of their time with but they won't ask her to take pics as it would arouse suspicion. So they contort around mirrors and the toilet in the bathroom, trying to look buff or dominant

As I explained in reply to other comments, women rarely send me face pics, so I can't comment on what I don't see, but lots of men send them. I was merely pointing out that a smiling, positive pic was more likely to get a reply than a grumpy one, and that it doesn't have to be a selfie if someone isn't comfortable taking one. The thread is long, but my OP was just a starting point for the conversation. I've had lots of lovely smiles sent to me since

Would you be more likely to reply to a photo of someone smiling? Even if they weren't your type, would you, like me, be more inclined to reply, even if it's just to say thank you for your pic, great smile, but you're not what I'm looking for?
