I want to. I’d love to learn to play the guitar, I’ve always wanted to, and I will.

Taught myself a foreign language before a stint away, it proved a good grounding in the basics though I can’t remember much of it now

I try to go on classes now and then for things that interest me, sometimes they work and sometimes I figure out to go back to the drawing board

Oh my goodness, I've taught myself so many things over the years with the internets help! From sewing and knitting,wire jewllery making to playing the cello and various art techniques.

I'm one of those people who adores learning, and picks things up quickly there's a whole world of knowledge and skills out there... Life's too short not to learn more!

I wonder if apps and free websites are a good way to get a taste before working out if paying for lessons is worth it.

I won't claim I'm anything special but it's what I did getting into makeup. Read up online and I've had a few lessons.

I can face paint and do balloon modelling, thanks you tube for the tutorials.

I would like to make clothes or upcycle stuff.

A friend of mine is learning this, apparently meeting in groups can help as well.

I love learning stuff. There was a podcast on recently about how it’s good for the brain when you learn things, it makes extra connections which keeps it healthy.

I can’t remember any more which is probably a sign I’m not learning enough

It’s always good to learn new things and the web is alive with tutorials and apps that can get you started.

I taught myself drawing years ago, before the web, it’s just making that first step. My lad is using it to teach himself to draw just following someone drawing something, amongst other things, and the results have been surprising.

I’d love to learn a language but I’ve always got too hung up on why is that female / Male / neutral and the sentence rearrange. How I passed German and French I’ll never know

Ive picked up a few hobbies over the years.

always fixed or mended my own cars so,

learnt mig welding and added to my arc welding skills.

Ive built a few wood stoves.

rocket stove hotplate and also a compact rocket stove heater, now building the boiler version.

Remembered the lathes at school so bought one and use it often.

I think I was a bit to argumentative at school and logical, always wanted to know “why” about something ?? but whenever I go to another country I always learn the basics and have the phrase book handy, as polite to try and speak the language of the country you are in

Makaton is brilliant - I taught myself it so I could communicate with a family member. I'd love to carry on learning coding - I picked it up when gaming and then stopped when I gave up being a hardcore gamer. I'd love to learn how to pole dance and crochet but the former probably requires classes.

Most things that I really value have been through self directed learning rather than being taught. Playing the guitar and much of what I do for work I learned without a teacher in the traditional sense. I’m about to embark on immersing myself in the Latin based languages to see if I can develop my ability to converse in them properly. The challenge will be putting sufficient time aside. I also aim to learn how to play lead guitar as I only really play acoustically based rhythm guitar at the moment.

I'm currently having pole dance lessons - be prepared for dry skin as moisturising makes you slide down the pole, bruising and very rough sore skin

apart from that it's great fun

I love teaching myself new skill and hobbies, the Internet is an amazing learning tool!

I’ve taught myself how to spin with a drop spindle and spinning wheel, how to knit socks (I only ever wear handmade socks now, never shop bought) and lace making.

This week I’ve bought a clarinet and am slowly making progress with the basics by watching YouTube while waiting for my beginners book to arrive

Ooh, once you get over the horrible squeaking phase, the lower range of the clarinet is relatively easy (up to B flat), and the lowest bit (C to E) is rich and rewarding.

I've always been pretty good at DIY, having spent a few years working on the fringes of the building trade, but I'd never done tiling, so went and watched a few tutorials, bought some kit, and did it. Started with a floor, and then moved on to bathroom and kitchen. I got so good I was offered a job as a tiler by the people who re-did our kitchen (wankers took all my tiling off lol!), but I turned it down, I'm good because I dont have a boss looking over my shoulder telling me to go faster!

The squeaking is awful, my poor cats ran to hide the first time I got it out

I remember when I started secondary school they let me try out for instruments, couldn’t get a sound out of a single reed

double reed was easy though and I went on to learn the bassoon.

I've taught myself to play several instruments when I was younger and play drums in a couple of pub bands. These days though there are loads of tutorials on YouTube which makes it loads easier.

Taught myself Arabic, Urdu and Russian, can speak all three fluently, can also speak Italian and German, enough to get by but not fluent enough to hold a good in depth conversation, although never really needed to speak German or Italian enough to warrant learning more.

I sort of ‘self taught’ myself German.

Used learning apps and I travel to Germany a few times a year (one main summer holiday then some long weekends) to practice. I’ve always loved the country and plan to move there so I had the drive behind me to do so.

The fault I see with Duolingo is that it doesn't teach the rules of grammar, at least not in the languages I've tried. You need to supplement with other things.

I've taught myself how to cook like a pro and how to bake boutique cupcakes, perfectly iced. It's fun and the reward is, I get to eat it. I've had some bloody disasters mind, but perfecting a soufflé and making a perfect jus has been very rewarding.

I'm now teaching myself how to repair scooters as I ride them and I need to properly maintain my new one. I quite like getting dirty hands
