Londoner or traveller: LCY to LHR

Due to the strike I will have to transfer from London City to Heathrow on Monday. The schedule to do so looks a bit tight... What is the best way to go from one airport to the other as quickly as possible in your experience?

Thanks in advance for your advice

Lovely, thanks. I'll look into it under this angle.

There and to the left a bit

Might be quicker to go DLR to Bank - pick up the Circle line to Paddington and then get the Heathrow Express which is going to be faster than tubing it all the way (the Paddington to Heathrow leg is 15 minutes)

Is more expensive but if you have time constraints may be worth it.

Will look into it as well, then. My employer's paying the traveling within reason, but would be mad if I missed my flight...

This route takes 1 hour 10 mins but adapt it so it’s

City to Canning Town on dlr.

Switch to jubilee line and get off at Waterloo

Switch to bakerloo line to Paddington

Then switch to Heathrow express

Yeah that's probably better - forgot what a long run City to Bank is on the DLR and DLR to Circle Line at Bank is a bit of a trek too

Wiltshire and London

Stay on the Jubilee line until Baker Street. It’s a much quicker change to Bakerloo there - less than 2 mins walk.

4 hours and a quarter between ETA in LCY and planned take off from LHR... And I've got hold luggage.

It should work but it's not hugely comfortable...

You'll have plenty of time, I've often ubered from LCY to LHR, longest was 90 mins so you'll be grand time wise!

Black taxi being London cab or Uber type transportation?

(Sorry, my English is letting me down there...)

But I need to be in LHR about 2hrs early I expect, in case security is a bit tedious to go through. That leaves about 30mns to go from the first plane into the cab for such a 90mn journey... Certainly doable, but I wouldn't call it grand...

Good to know that 90mns ought to be a safe bet, though. Thanks!

They are... Within reason. Do you know what is to be expected price wise for such a trip?

Good luck OP and let us know how you get on. Hope you catch the Heathrow flight.

I think Black Cab, the ones you flag down will be a lot more expensive than Uber but the black cabs are a lot more reliable because they actually know the roads and short cuts.

But whichever you use just show urgency whatever you do and tell them to put their foot on the gas!!

put the journey on3to uber, best way of getting accurate price!

Personally I’d do the train rather than a taxi.... what time are you traveling?

I just checked Uber website and now is Sunday 10.40 pm they are quoting £47 -£61 for City airport to Heathrow Terminal 3.

I assume day time would be slightly more due to traffic etc.

I checked a random London Black Cab calculator online (may not be accurate) and it is showing the same trip for £108 or so. Daytime may be more due to traffic.

Being afraid of traffic jams, this option seems a bit safer, if less comfy...

I'm landing at 11am.

It's sure a traumatic experience if on the Piccadilly line and you're in a rush to catch a flight. Definately worth paying a little extra just to get there in time. I'd say Heathrow express too but still a little ball-ache to get to. To be expected I suppose; that's some transfer!
