So you’ve been chatting online, exchanged pics, all lights are on green and you head to your first rendez-vous with him/her.

What’s the proper greeting etiquette when you get there?

Do you shake hands?

Give a hug?

Kiss on the cheek? One? Two? Some of us in France even go for three or four (weirdos!).

And do you start left or right?

Kiss on the lips? I guess tongue would be too much.

Fist bump? (Not fist bum, you pervs!)

Slap on the bum?

I have a date and am nervous. Does it show?

Hmmm, all depends.

I have hugged those I felt I already knew really well.

Others I've greeted with "come here ya cunt" and given them a forehead slap and wedgie

Very much depends on the person and the circumstances and how much of a connection you've felt beforehand - with some it's been a smile and "hello" kind of thing, some it's been a quick hug and kiss on the cheek and in one instance I'd already told her I wanted to kiss her before I heard her voice for the first time and that's exactly what happened

Usually......straight in for the bowling ball grip (thumb in the pink, middle 2 in the stink

) to pull them in close....gets a feel for the goods early doors....but only if they are wearing a skirt or dress...its a bit tougher if they have trousers/jeans on though....

You could always ask them what they'd usually do, guess everyone is different. I've had everything from a high five (I missed, I have terrible coordination) to a full on snog, which has been both appreciated and unappreciated based on the chemistry.

Guess you have to read the situation, and the lucky lady in question.

I always go for a hug and a cheek kiss, and you can often tell from there where the chemistry sits in the scale of 1 to 10

Don't think I'd ever go for a handshake. It seems too formal. To me it always depends on the surroundings and the level of bubbling butterfly giddyness I feel about meeting someone. There's kind of a sliding scale....

Hugs are very likely.

Cheek pecks likely (even both cheeks lol).

Full-on breath-taking, leg-jellifying pin me to the wall kind of snog before even saying hello has only ever happened once. But on that one we knew before we even met that the electricity was in the mega-voltage range. We were hungry for each other.

It all depends on the rapport you've built up with the person and the intensity of the chemistry generated before meeting. With some it's been a good snog right at the beginning. With others it's been a friendly hug or a peck on the cheek. If you're unsure opt for something modest at the beginning and see how things play out. It may start with a friendly hug or peck on the cheek but before it's over much more.

The most important thing is that you convey a genuine sense of how happy you are at finally meeting face to face. People like to feel appreciated and desired; I certainly do

I’m french and sound like it a lot. The idea of me trying to even sound remotely Australian makes me chuckle.

I was greeted once, meeting for the first time for a social with tongues and as I started to walk towards the coffee shop, with a slap on my bum. Needless to say the social didn’t last long. The next phase started in the hotel lift

It's just not for me on a meet,I see flowers as being more of a romantic thing. Also we may not hit it off face to face that chemistry may not be there when I'm in front of you,I'd feel daft walking into a pub with flowers.

Flowers I never did in a fab context. I brought a scented candle to a lady after a few meetings. I was hoping she would think of me every time she lit it
