A friend who’s a bit of a snob criticised me for putting it in last, said I was common. So, I googled it. Imagine my delight on discovering that many years ago only poor people with cheap crockery put the milk in first to avoid cracking from the shock of hot water.

That shut him up!

If using teabags straight in the cup, then milk goes last, after its had chance to brew awhile, if your using a teapot, then it's excetable to put milk in cup first because the teas already brewed

Yes because you're cooling the water down and tea needs the water to stay hot as possible to brew properly.

Many moons ago when I first started on building sites as an apprentice an old fella could tell that I hadn't brewed his tea in a ready warmed cup.

Ever since I've pre warmed my mug and milk last.
