I love it but because I work in retail the s_ine has been taken off it a little bit.

I'm going to do a cake this year, oh forgot last here.

September is too early for me though, I like to get my daughter's birthday out of the way before I start lists and stuff!

I come from a huge family (grandparents had 14 children), Christmas is the time of year a lot of us get together, some in other cities come down to visit and it’s like a week of celebration right up to New Year, it’s amazing.

No. I don't mean joking unpleasant haha. I mean truly awful. It's not in any way funny.

Same for me.

I come from a huge family (grandparents had 14 children), Christmas is the time of year a lot of us get together, some in other cities come down to visit and it’s like a week of celebration right up to New Year, it’s amazing.

I guess those with less family or family they don’t see/speak to often are the ones who don’t understand.

I mitigate it. But for some people happy family time... isn't. Believe me I get why people with nice families look forward to seeing them. More power to you! But yours isn't the only story.

Maybe so.

Point still stands that those with less family or family they don’t have contact with may not understand the excitement for such a time of year.

Doesn’t mean people don’t have other exciting things to look forward to.

I’m sure everyone is sorry about all those things but what is it today with people always trying to steal everyone else’s happiness because of “other” people’s misfortunes? yes I’m sorry for each and every one of those unfortunate people at Christmas but I’ll be damned if it’s going to put a dampener on MY OWN PERSONAL Christmas just as I’m sure most other happy people who have commented will agree. I have lived through some fucked up shit and for my age been to more funerals than I should ever have to. But I’m still here I’m still smiling and I’m still trying and still looking forward to a wonderful time of year. My misfortunes are my own and one day, I will conquer them, no1 else need know.

Like say each to their own but in my view there is something seriously lacking in your life if you spend a quater of the year looking forward to Christmas. I'm not sure how a wonderful family and beautiful home negates that but like I say each to their own

Given that the sone of the negativity on this thread is people commenting that it is maybe a little early for this thread and that the confrontational posts appear to be your responses to those who haven't agreed with you I think maybe you are the one putting a dampener on thibgs

I hate Xmas. My son died 4 days before, it's a rough time of yr. I try to just avoid it where possible and join in when I have to, to avoid spoiling others fun.

But it's fucking September. 1 day of the yr does not need to take over 4 months early.

How do you manage to come to that conclusion?

If you look forward to a holiday whether it’s Christmas, Easter or Diwali it doesn’t mean you aren’t looking forward to anything else.

It’s quite easy to look forward to several things at once you know?

Maybe Christmas is negative for you and that’s why you can’t understand why others look forward to it early.

How many of us book holidays a year or more in advance and look forward to them? Likely lots of us, that doesn’t mean we have things lacking in our life.

Or maybe, just maybe we are all different.

Getting excited about a certain time of year, doesn’t mean there’s nothing else exciting going on in our lives. "

Couldn’t agree more.

We’re often made to feel as though there’s something wrong with looking forward to Christmas. Well there isn’t. Happy childhood, fabulous memories, special and magical. I understand it’s not the same for everyone but it doesn’t mean it’s wrong to enjoy that particular time of year.

Some people count down and look forward to summer ... I think that’s weird and if you only enjoy summer then the rest of your year must be awful. I don’t really think that but you get the point

So you started a thread asking if it was just you that started getting excited for Christmas in the summer and because I don't I'm a troll?

And because I disagreed quite politely I'm stealing your thunder (which is a choice of words that pretty much vindicates my comment that perhaps 3 1/2 months out you need something else in your life to get excited about).

I never said anything about those who are planning fir Christmas, plenty of people already are and I get that. You asked about excited and that was where my derision was aimed. I get that people are planning and I get that people are potentially already looking forward to Christmas but excited about it? In September? Like I said personally i cant help but think you need to find something else to he excited about. It almost comes across as overcompensating...

You said in your opening post about outdoing the neighbours, I assumed that was tongue in cheek buy given some of your subsequent replies (not just to me) I doubt it was and it's not just the neighbours you seem to want to out do.

Again... and? You are proving your a troll because your trying to get people’s backs up, you can clearly see from other comments you have offended more than myself.. having an opinion is fine, but you have made judgement after judgement over and over and it’s all in black and white documented above for people to read.
