If you call someone do you say something first, or do you wait for a response from the other person?

You a 'hey' kinda person or more formal 'hello Cute n Sassy speaking'

My grandma answers with the last 3 digits of her home phone number and it creases me up

usuall make the effort to say good morning, afternoon or evening, but sometimes get it wrong. Never say who I am, they are supposed to know that.

If it's someone foreign from a call centre I just tell them I am not in.

That's probably more to do with the fact that in the old days you required an operator to put you through so you would ask for XYZ 123. Subsequently, on the other end, you would answer it with the same XYZ 123.

If I recognise the number I greet them by name, if I don't know who's calling I say my own name.

Norfolk

Monday - Friday 08:30-17:30 I answer with my full name as I hope it is someone responding to a job application I have made but otherwise I just say Hi
