I'm not a fan of chat shows and i don't much like Rob Rinder either but i thought i'd give his new show a try mainly because it featured a piece on euthenasia.

What a waste of time and an hour of my life i'm never going to get back. Admittedly funny in parts but on the whole crass and vulgar. Gratuitous use of foul language, puerile sex references and, worst of all, a clip of some reality show reprobate rubbing her pussy and sniffing her hand while complaining about the fact that she might have a yeast infection.

What the fuck is happening to us? Give me Graham Norton any day.

I don't think anything has changed. People used to watch men fight lions and call it entertainment, public executions, hanging, drawing and quartering used to count as a fun day out and bawdy, vulgar jokes have always been in fashion.

At least if it's on TV you can switch off and if the viewing figures are poor it won't get another series

This is true but i'm surprised the powers that be thought it was a good idea in the first place. Lowest common denominator television aimed at the quick to laugh and slow to think.

I suspect they think it will work for the audience it's aimed at.

What's the purpose of entertainment if not to entertain the people partaking in it?
