Just curious if anyone here has ever gotten back with their ex partner and made things work.. It was a mutual split the first time, work commitments caused us to never see each other

I've often said you need to split up twice before it's actually done.

Have friends that split up and didn't see each other for five years ... bumped into each other again and BOOM been happily married for the last 20 years!

Didn't work first time due to work commitments and hardly ever getting to see each other, both of us have new jobs now

It depends on the circumstances.

If you've fell out of love ,drifted apart then I personally don't believe that can be fixed.

I know when children are involved you both want to make it right for they sake,however you'd both make yourselves unhappy in a loveless marriage/relationship...and as the kids get older they'll sense the atmosphere.

But at the end of the day I'm no counsellor so maybe what I say means nothing at all.

We have a similar story. Although we never quite got divorced, we split up for a while and thought it was over because we had just drifted too far apart. We started to put things back together again after some unexpected sex one night when I went to visit the kids and put them to bed.

We went to counselling and started genuinely talking to each other, whether or not it hurt at the time.

We put things back together slowly and we’ll have been married 10 years next year. Maybe the odds aren’t with you, but it can and does work out for some

Yes. I got back with mine and we are better than ever. We remained really close friends while we were separated though. I now know nothing will split us up as I never want to think of my life without him in it
