Best places for cheap furniture.

I am hopefully moving and my son is getting his own place too..

Now mostly I have my stuff but for him on limited money I want to know where you recomend for 2nd hand furniture.. checked ebay and it seems a little expensive for around here..

there is admag of course.. but are their places I havent thought to look for him.

He is also looking for an old tv.. not a flat screen or anything.. I have given him a 14inch colour tv but have to say it looks silly really lol

I guess its pms if its a site that we cant put the actual link up.

try local auctions, you can get some decent bits of furniture and very reasonably priced too!!

a Primark shoebox in Leicester

Find a posh area and have a look in the charity shops. I found one by accident just as one of my nephews was moving into his first house. Bought a dining table and 6 chairs (real wood - looked as good as new - and not a granny style) for £50.

freecycle is where i just got my tv from but try gum tree too there were some cheap sets on there. Funiture wise depends what your looking for ikea has some great budget priced stuff. I am having to re kit my house after my ex gutted it and trashed what was left

ikea is good.. but to be fair he is looking for free stuff mostly.. adn I know that there can be some good stuff to be had..

Missed a 3 piece suite recently that a neighbour threw out but I had no where to put it in the mean time..

our local evening paper has a "Quids In" supplement on a wednesday eve, is there one in your area? we also have a 2 lrg charity shops that sell furniture, one is the YMCA

try facebook for groups where people are selling/giving away stuff

buying & selling in (your towns name)

i set up one locally for our town and its amazing how cheap things are,, right bargains to be had

Ask friends to ask friends often someone has something they think is too good to throw away and would rather it go some place it will be used.

we have a heart foundation furniture shop here i would of thought there would be similar in other parts of the country too, also recently there has been a shop open that has furniture thats been refurbished from the local recyling center again i'm sure there must be others round the country i'll find out the name of it and try to find out if they are a country wide thing for you

as for ebay keep looking hun i'm after table n chairs and look every day for anything being put on and if i like it i pop it on my wantch list and only bid in the last 15 seconds so as not to push it up out of my range, if your not in a rush you can get some amazing bargains that way

freecycle i would live on the place if i was setting up home. Also adverts in shop windowns and heart foundation and i think its ymca have have furniture shops.

Aslo if hes a young man setting up he could try the volunteer bureau we have a place here called homestart but think its just a local charity but otheres might have them
