If you are invited out for lunch... And told your being treated to lunch... would you then feel a little put out on being told at presentation of the bill... your paying????

Not going halves but paying...

Had this today and im really a little put out... Not least the fact that I'd driven over to them and always do.

This is a none fab acquaintance... Im feeling a bit taken the piss out of if I'm honest.

To be fair, you did get some lunch.

Sounds inconsiderate to me. Is this a good enough friend to ask about it? Or to assume they’re paying next time?

I would have had to say something! Just a jokey ‘hey I thought this was your treat!’ Shame as you might be reluctant to meet this person again for lunch?! X

I'd be very pissed off. I wouldn't go out with them again. It's more than rude, it's shit.

Thought you were going to say they'd asked you to pay half. I'm pissed off on your behalf!

If they have invited you then then at the very least you would expect is to split the bill.

You wouldn’t invite someone over to your home for dinner and expect them to bring the food

What would have happened if you didn't have any money. As you thought it was on them

I only had money on me for my bills... which i had to use. We arent talking loads of money... but I was more than a little embarrassed when argued with about whose paying at the end.

Good job id had the cheapest meal on the menu really

I don't think anyone would be expecting to pay for lunch is some is treating you. You be prepared for the possibility of 50/50 split but it's fair to asume if you being treated is being paid for you.

If I invite someone for lunch, I pay. If they invite me, I offer to pay.

I'd be pretty annoyed if I was invited for lunch then expected to pay. Unless it was agreed/mentioned beforehand.

Settlewick!

I've had men offer to take me for lunch,I always decline on the basis that I can't afford it if they then ask me to pay half afterwards
