Insurance not paying out

I read somewhere yesterday that if you post pictures on social media while you are on holiday, and your house get burgled the insurance might not pay out due to you advertising your home could be empty.

Is this a new way of not paying out or has this been going on for a while?

I can't believe that people put up they are on holiday thibgs on bookface it's like advertising to burglars, my home is empty

I haven't heard, but it wouldn't surprise me, I would imagine they would class it as negligence. We got burgled whilst on holiday, no we didn't advertise it and it was a very strict claims procedure.

You hear about it happening quite often unfortunately, same as putting on that your visiting friends/family, out for the day/night.

Also people using Google earth to scout the property out too, finding the quietest access point and such.

I always post all my pictures when I get back, that way I know it is a bit safer.

I never knew this could happen though.
