"I am NOT an insurance sales person or advisor, but, my step son is, and basically said this to me a few months ago, when we had a similar problem Unfortunately, probably sod all you can do. Personally, I would have put the vacuum cleaner tube through it, and sent them a pic, saying I tripped whilst cleaning. That way, 'accidental' cover is invoked. It may mean an increased premium next year, and an 'excess', but, unless you can afford to replace the unit, best way forward, in my humble opinion. " EXACTLY! they seem more interested if I’d have personally purposely broken it as supposed to just “not knowing” I told them “I don’t know what happened” how can they assume it is/is not accidental? "I think now, you're screwed ... they already know it's broken and you have told them it wasn't accidental damage that you know of ... so they have the get out clause of electronic failure / wear and tear (yes really). How old is TV? Your only possible recourse is the manufacturer, who sadly probably tell you that it could only have broken if it had been hit ... so either way you're pickled Your only possible course is get a repairer to check it and declare that it could only have happened through accidental damage and go back to the insurance company with this proof" That’s EXACTLY what they said about wear and tear and not being liable even tho I said I have no idea how it broke, just that it wasn’t personally me... it could have been my family or friends who knows! I will call now and say that about a repair company. Thank you | |||
