I don't usually kill spiders but the one i got last night that crawled behind my bed headboard was a giant nasty looking bastard! It had long hairy legs,a huge arse and big fangs and definitely wasn't a common english house spider! I'm not bothered about small ones but i couldn't sleep knowing that beast was behind my head

I'm allergic to spider bites

Ended up in AE several times, 3yrs ago I had to have a chunk taken out my arm as it turned necrotic

Last week I got corned in my bedroom by the biggest bugger I've ever seen, it was watching me.

Everytime I moved, it moved!

I had to climb over my bed to grab the hairspray.

Blasted it & ran screaming from the room

It landed in the cats water bowl!

It took me an hour to go back & check it was dead, at which point the bowl got thrown out of the window - I wasn't convinced it was really dead.

The bowl hit my car, bounced & landed in my neighbours garden, just as she walked out her door.

I did apologise

That night. It's bigger uglier brother was on my ceiling.

I slept on the settee

Honestly, it was like a scene from that film.

It kept twitching side to side everytime I moved!

I never used to be scared of them, in fact I used to drive my mum crazy as I wouldn't clear a cobweb out of my kitchen window - I really hate flies, figured the Web was better than fly spray

But sincr being bitten 3yrs ago, ending up on an IV, surgery to my arm, and then the reactions I've had several times this year while in my garden

Oh I've got all sorts of weird and wonderfuls lodging at mine right now. I give them nicknames (not individually, but shape and action based)

So far the rambo trapeze fuckers are the smartest of the lot when it comes to catching munchies. There's 6 of them around the kitchen strip light like a small army, laying it wait for the dumbass bugs that are drawn to the light at night.

I had a huge one run across my chest whilst I was laying on my bed the other night. I freaked out and jumped up and completely lost where it went so I could barely sleep that night as I couldn't stop thinking it was going to crawl on my face. That's not exaggerating saying it was huge. Probably about 5 inches leg tip to tip. One of those bastard garden spiders

Yes indeed, Pholcid spiders aka Cellar spiders or ‘Daddy Long Legs Spiders’ are voracious predators and even prey upon Giant House Spiders

Does anyone here remember the children’s series entitled simply, ‘Spider’ from a few years back?

It depicted this endearing, hairy critter who was best friends with a little boy and accompanied by a different folky type song every episode, showed the best friends exciting adventures (like paddling in puddles together).

It was rather sweet in fact but the intro was the best part

I once got trapped by 2 huge spiders on the stairs whilst getting a new roof it must of disturbed them, passed one then seen the other monster turned to leg it and spotted his pal, just about died of fright, ended up sliding down the stairs on my belly

Her ear. She woke up heating sounds similar to when you get water in your ears, so went to hospital. They found this huge spider had crawled in. If it bites, its venom causes skin to decay, including needing amputations.

Luckily they removed it from her ear, without it biting her. They like calm, darker spots.

Crikey!! I had the same last night!! Parading along my skirting board, bold as brass. Couldn’t catch the bugger at all. I try not to kill either. Moved like greased lightning. Managed to corner it and to half crunch it with a walking stick. Ugh. Slunk off down the side of wardrobe and died.

Felt bad. Even though I’m arachnophobic.

I buck the general trend and like spiders.

I particularly like garden spiders, as they often have interesting markings.

Spiders are more than welcome in our house to keep the flies at bay.

My ex is scared of them and once lept away from a "spider" that was actually the green bit off the top of a tomato

In terms of total leg span diameter, the Giant Huntsman Spider is technically the largest spider in the world with the aforementioned span reaching up to (and OVER in a few cases!) 12 inches in some specimens.

However, if sheer girth and bulk floats your boat, then the Goliath Bird Eating Spider is your critter of choice for as it’s name suggests, it’s fucking huge!

then sat in the garden last night i felt a tickle on my foot looked down to see a big hairy garden spider looking up at me.

I try not to show my fear around the kids either.

I'm absolutely terrified of them and my friends all keep posting updates about huge spiders....I want to hibernate until spring. Apparently peppermint helps so I'm buying some essential oils.

I have an overnight stay this weekend with someone that also hates spiders...I'm a little concerned that we will be cornered by one

I never kill them either but the other night I was sat at the back door having a smoke then all of a sudden a monster of a spider ran right up my arm then the sleeve of my t-shirt. My girlfriend cant make me strip as quick as I did that night. I literally ran it upstairs bollock naked. Came back down half hour later and proded and shook my pile of clothes with a broom
