"I worked hard hard in the garden and was pretty chuffed with the results. That was until I noticed a fat little slug muching on my plants. I removed him and took him away up the garden but it's back and now it's a large fat slug having eaten all my plants...I'm not proud but I put him next door...they've got no bedding plants. What I really need is a deterrent. Salt... well that just seems to harsh. pellets I don't want to kill anything. Beer ...could watch him get pissed and drown but I'd rather not. Anyone got any harmless slug deterrents...all suggestions welcome. Hedgehogs, they help" I do have a hedgehog visit but I've never seen the slug at the same time

"Diatomaceous earth is awful for them to cross, as it contains sharp crystalline edges. Natural predators are ideal, including bird life, hedgehogs and nematodes that invade their body, introducing a pathway to the end of their lives. You can buy these online and I've used these and other natural predators and remedies for slugs and other plant problems. If you remove individuals, take them further away, as it's reasonable for them to return over short distances. Taking them to areas of unkempt s, rather than balanced wold flowers, is a reasonable option. " Take it further a field...got it....I just can't bear to kill anything.

"The Nematodes I mentioned are naturally occurring pests of slugs. You'd get a small sachet seemingly of powder, which you'd add to a watering can of water and pour around your garden. They then seek out slugs naturally. I know you said you'd not want to kill them but these exist naturally and youd just be tipping the balance of species in your favour. Probably about $10-5, depending on volume and supplier. " It would become revenge of the nematodes hmmmm

"Plant the perimeter with something for them to eat and they won't travel further. Plus eggshells. I hope it wasn't my slug nemesis. " I think I'm going to go with egg shells
