something that I read today almost had me reaching out to PM a guy on a thread.

My husband died of prostrate cancer so the issue is very close to my heart. Just putting it out there don't forget your health checks...stay safe live long and prosper x

I am so sorry to read about your loss.

Working within an Oncology/Radiotherapy department, it is important for guys to keep a check on their health..

Early detection/diagnosis can mean a higher success in treatment.

Having a history of prostate cancer in the family I'm always conscious of getting my checks and lipids

One of the reasons I support Orchid, the Male cancer trust, whenever I run a race/ take part in an event

My dad died this way too. He had no symptoms apart from feeling a bit tired but when he got diagnosed through a routine blood test it was very advanced. Before this he was young, healthy and very active, did not drink, smoke and was not over weight. Alot of folk connect prostate cancer with older males but this is not the case.

Sorry that you're posting from the heart.

Go on guys, get yourself checked. It is often done with a general blood test rather than a digit up the bum. But either way, you will be better off getting the thumbs up from the Doctor

With no screening programmes it's even more important to be in tune with your body. My husbands initial symptom was the reduced amount of semen over time and when he went to the doctors they said it was his age. Then other symptoms came such as needing to wee more often during the night. By this time it had become so aggressive that nothing could be done. If caught early treatment can work really well.

Sorry to hear about the loss of your nearest and dearest Anabelle

I go for a Colonoscopy every year, (it's the one where they stick a camera up yer bum}, in the last 2 years I have had 9 non cancerous Polyps removed.

I said to ma surgeon, "At least one part of ma body's fertile"

Thankfully my dads was caught early enough and he has been in remission for 18 months. But he didn't have any real symptoms, and at first they were put down to diabetes and age.

Guys, please get checked...be persistant if the doctors are reluctant.

It's not always a case of the doctors being reluctant, depending on any symptoms, sometimes you need a second opinion. My mate, who is now no longer with us got misdiagnosed last year. I went to his funeral a couple of months ago
