I’ve had a social which led straight to a meet on the same day, and have had chats that have lasted for months before a social followed by more chatting. It depends on availability, and how we wish to pace ourselves. Average time from first message to first meet: About 2-3 weeks.

Personally I prefer to meet quite early on for a social, as there is no substitute for seeing if there's any chemistry between you. This tactic has worked for me really well recently, reduces the risk of wasting time and effort on someone who isn't right for me.
