"Can an SD card be too big? Im struggling to view footage over 2GB on my 256GB sd card? I bought a 256GB card for a panasonic HC W570 (3years old) ... all of the footage that is over 2GB will not play on the device or my mac. Is there a way to recover or convert the files so that we can watch them? Thanks in anticipation " What is the file extension?

"To save a lot of faffing about just download wontube free video converter. Firstly you will be able to play the file in that programme (universal player) and then if you want to convert for use on Mac you can (suggest convert file to MP4 or MOV) "

"If media is formatted in FAT16, media is generally available up to a capacity of 2GB. Try this to check the format Insert the media into the SD card slot. Choose Apple menu About This Mac. Click System Report. In the Hardware section, click Card Reader, and find the File System field. And tell us the format, it will handy information to provide a solution, if possible." Thanks. It’s ExFAT. If that helps!?

" It’s ExFAT. If that helps!?" Most cameras (even hi-End pro units) prefer FAT16 or 32, which will not allow files larger than 2 or 4 gig respectively. Somehow, your camera has been able to write to an ExFAT formatted SD card, and may not have finalised the files correctly. There are plenty of ways around this, but freeware video converters probably aren’t the best way forward. What size are the files you’re trying to play? And what format are they? Drop me a PM if you’re still having problems as I can almost certainly help,
