After the sad loss of Ghengis's Pooch it got to me thinking.

I have lost both my parents in the last few years and both my grandparents, and whilst obviously I was deeply upset, for some reason I already know that when my beloved partner in crime leaves me i will be inconsolable.

But does that make me a bad person , or does anyone else feel the same ???

I get it.

Losing a pet is devastating. Pets are family, for me it's not different to losing a family member or best friend.

And dogs are better than humans so it's sadder!

I didnt to start with because my Mum went first before both of my grandparents. I think that's what led to them giving up on life

No, I don't think it makes you a bad person at all. I'll be exactly the same when it's time for my furry friend to cross the rainbow bridge. Unfortunately he's on borrowed time, so I know I'm going to have to make a very hard decision soon

No not really although animals love me I've never had a pet they have very short lives 17 years approx for a dog or cat on average and I would feel guilty leaving them at home all day, cats not so much they don't need you as much as dogs but no people for me

Please don't be sorry, I have known for a while this was coming, he's been orthopaedically challenged all his life bless him. It's just hit home with GK losing his pooch and the vet telling me this morning, it's now up to me, there's no more drugs to help with the pain.

I think it depends on how attached you are to them.

It's only natural to feel very sad if you lose your loved ones - be them human or dogs.

A part of you suddenly disappear and worse, the longing to fill in the void is painful.

I've lost both parents. My mum died on my 38th birthday. 2 weeks later my dog collapsed and died. I feel I didnt even grieve for him properly cos I was mourning my mums death. Even now I still get upset that I didnt say goodbye properly to him. It was all so suddenly. Even though I held his head and spoke & kissed him as he went asleep I still hurt. Off all my pets that have passed I wish it was him I could get back more than any of them. I lost a sister 6 weeks later BUT Have to admit my dog dying was more heartbreaking for me. Maybe that makes me sound bad but my dog never once hurt me!!!
