Is it something you try to do? Does it work for you? How do you go about it? (deliberately vague questions)

Yes, for me it's speaking with women.

It has vastly improved over the years but still quite bad.

Also speaking to people in general, I find my conversations very quickly die.

Which wasn't the case in my teen years.

Meeting new people is something I struggle with a lot. I get it.

I have slipped back in behind my comfort zone and cant see myself coming back out for a while. It takes mighty sustained effort.

Central

I've done it since I was at school, when I realised that generally there was nothing holding me back, except for me. So I used to do things just for the fun, of I was scared or thought I couldn't. My no, meant yes.

I'm now a little more measured, sometimes taking smaller steps and to repeat things a few times, to build up my competency.

I've got an active imagination and use it. Rehearsal can make most things easier.

I also ensure that I'm happy to be a little uncomfortable or to just enjoy the excitement of being on the edge.

In daily life of there's something I want to change, I'll incorporate novelty in my routines, as it seems to really help me switch and change much faster and easier

If it's something I want to do then yes I will try and try. I asked for help, got it, and now I try to help others because my comfort zone has now expanded thanks to my helper so I try to pay that forwards.

First of all, (in my best Yoda voice) “do or do not, there is no try).

When I feel uncomfortable about doing something i either ask myself, ‘what would happen if I did do it?’

Or, ‘what’s stopping me?’.

Both tend to unearth a limiting belief,

that's the thing really things often have a more positive outcome than we feel they may and that can feel really good

It's something I've found easier with age

It seems inversely proportional to the level of fucks I no longer give

I hate it. I love my comfort zone and it takes a lot for me to step outside it!

I think the answer is often, in real life and here.

I'm a calculated risk taker but I love pushing myself.

Exeter, Bristol, Plymouth, Truro

I feel comfortable in most situations if that's dressing up in a ball gown or wearing welly boots. I'm very social and dont find talking to people a problem male or female in the real world. Doing the jobs I've done you have to. However I'm also a loner, happy on my own and very unsocialable. At the moment I'm not sure if I'm sat within my comfort zone or just cant be assed.

I personally hate my comfort zone, it’s like if you walk down the same path you always arrive at the same place and never learn anything new.

So I do push it, uncomfortable at times but the exhilaration of pushing through.

Agree wholeheartedly! If you enjoy what you already know then great....but there was a time before you had ever tried what you currently enjoy so try everything once and see what else is out there !

I just say fuck it and go for it. I'll let you know at the end of the year how it's working out. Life's too short to not push yourself.

from Home Counties to Middle Earth

I've had so many firsts in the last 6 months; I'm going for it - pushing all boundaries and open to ideas... And I'm having a whale of a time!

I'm not saying it's easy, I just do it anyway.

Life really is too short
