Unless stated in profile, avoid offering to ‘see to wife’, whilst hubby watches.

Oh, and avoid crude suggestions, too.

There is no catch all formula that will work for everyone - so it's more about finding what works best for you and any intended recipients.

On the rare occasions I send "cold" messages, I usually introduce myself, tell the person why I'm contacting them, pick up on something from their profile to comment on and invite them to take a look at my profile and get back to me if they'd be interested in chatting further.

If the 6 completely cold messages I've sent in my three years here, I got replies from 5 of them
