Settlewick!

I'm in the market for a new job and I'm wondering on those equality questionnaires they always stick on the end, should I be honest about my sexuality? Would it harm or hinder my chances? I know my current employer has a 'positive discriminational'view on gender and sexual equality but I can't help but feel it's a lot of hot air to tick the PC boxes

I keep things to myself

But wish I had my own company that I employed loads of tvs in

Once again, I'm always surprised at people attitudes towards this kind of thing on here. Absolutely be honest! It won't hinder your chances... and let's be honest, do you want to work for a company that would discriminate on these grounds?

The data is important.

Stonewall have some guidance called DO ASK DO TELL. That may be a good place to ask.

Also, I'm not sure you mean "positive discrmination" which is unlawful under the Equality Act, positive action maybe?

Maybe positive discrimination isn't the term I was thinking of.More the way in which certain companies aim to have a representation of all genders and sexuality and positively encourage applications from these sectors

That's a good thing.

There is another thread on this you could read through. It is illegal to make the monitoring compulsory - you can ignore the questions or tick 'prefer not to say'. However, the monitoring helps employers to see if their recruitment is reaching a wide range of people and whether they then employ a wide range across all levels in the organisation.

As said above, look at the Stonewall guidance.
