You'll need to climb a hell of a lot more than Snowdon to even attempt Everest. Expedition leaders generally won't accept climbers unless they have previous 8000m climb experience.

I did the National three peaks last year, in a heat wave! Even Ben was boiling!

I was reading an article this morning about how they’re going to start charging £30000 to climb Everest because it’s becoming overcrowded and it’s difficult to retrieve bodies from there. A high percentage of people died due to overcrowding.

Apologies for the morbid thoughts. Be an awesome experience but Ben Nevis was my limit!

Base camp is on my to do list. Found a company that does it for a reasonable price, but it's the kit list that is the killer.

There are good hire options out there now.

My fella did a lot of beg, steal, and borrowing. Then got home and said he didnt use half of it.

Because the challenge was available at the time, and he'd not done anything like it before

Nepal is a fantastic destination, Everest is over popular, you could consider Annapurna. Either way fantastic country and people. Do it, Kathmandu is a sensory overload

Ps..You do not need to climb the summit, you can stay at base camp and trek a reasonable distance the following day, without serious climbing
