Arranging a big party

Long eaton

Hey all,

I have come across an amazing place for hosting parties, it is a big cottage type thing with 3 hot tubs, sauna, pool table and a swimming pool coming soon. It can sleep 32 people and is far away from any neighbours, I have spoken to the owner and he is happy for me to rent it for a party, only issue is it costs £2500 for the weekend which I don't have to cover for myself.

Do people think there would be enough interest in a regular (every month or other month) party if it was strictly limited to numbers etc. I would obviously have to charge an entry fee to cover the rental cost and would put food on etc.

It is based in Derbyshire. Do people think this would go down well?

32 people, that's 16 couples.

£200 per couple is £3200, that would cover food and also rental costs for if a few couples didn't show up.

So no more really than a weekend away.

Wouldn't be for me, but I'm sure you'd get some interest

The problem is if you pay out a couple of hundred quid and don't like people there its a pain. In reality its often easier more flexible and cheaper just to go to a club.

I wasn't thinking as much as that to be fair. I was thinking more along the lines of £50ish per couple, maybe having a few more and maybe a few select singles who I would vet and then charging a bit more for maybe 6 or 7 couples if they wanted to sleep over, the place I well laid out and had seperate accommodation to the main 'party' bit.

I wouldn't be looking to make money just cover the costs and have a regular meeting place for a select few people

Yeah but you'd need to take into account people that didn't show up and pay their share. If everyone came you could give them back the extra

If it's £2500 to hire the place I think you are going to struggle with covering costs and keeping the numbers to a select few

Great idea but I think in reality you will be left out of pocket.

People always drop out, plus for me it would be a lot easier to go to a club.

You'd have to ask for the money upfront with no refunds, otherwise you'd probably be left out of pocket.

I'm not sure how many would be willing to do that though.

Not too far to travel. The venue sounds great (and remote). Me and My Girl may be intrested.

It certainly sounds interesting. I can't help thinking you are looking too fat ahead. Try doing it once before you look at doing it regularly. Once a months may be way too frequently, or it may not.

Is that £2500 per month or per weekend?

If its per month, you could sub-let via Airbnb and just keep it free for your parties. It would probably pay for itself.

Bank Holidays, Christmas/New Year may be the best dates. The place sounds like it would make a damn good club, to be honest.

£200 per couple I don't think many ppl will be up for doing that on a regular basis at that price

Nah but I don't think it's more than you'd pay to spend the weekend in a hotel once you've added meals to it etc.

Being limited as to who else was there may put a few off but if you view it as a weekend away with the use of hot tub etc and not get too het up over the who else will be there it could be a really cool weekend

Are you using a hammer to crack a nut. Think small select gathering. What about a four bedroom cottage with hot tub.

If you invite lots of people you don't know then there will be some timewasters, genuine people who cannot attend for genuine reasons at short notice and maybe a couple who steal objects or damage property and you won't know if some are on drugs. If the owners take a deposit against damage then you will be screwed and not in a nice way.. sorry I am a pessimist
