Our thirteen year old Labrador, considers all commands as ‘optional’....especially when there is food around...

Have 2, both specials

One is a retired gun dog

The other is a young gun dog still in training

All the basics there, learning the full flush and retrieve at distance being worked on

So generally, yes .. both very obedient

I haven't had a dog since I was a child but my last cat used to sit and give you his paw, when asked, walked to heal and play fetch... He was the best

It can very much depend on the breed, but generally with training you get out what you put in. I guess the homeless have more time to spend with their dogs to train them and generally be with them so they are more content (the dog)

My dog is trained to hand commands. He’s pretty obedient but I can’t take the credit.

A dog trainer trained him whilst I went to work

Down to one 7 yr old lab bitch at the moment (search is on for a suitable pup).

She's not a bad peg dog.....does have the occasional identity crisis when she thinks she's a spaniel, but will pick up everything she's sent for, on command as well. Still waiting for her first goose though, that could be interesting!!

As ever, you get out what you put in.

My dog listens to sit, up, down, lay, dance, do something fancy, not your business, paw and high five

She doesn’t really listen well though beyond direct commands for tricks or cooperation around food.

This thread has made me very happy! My little dog is a working terrier and absolutely ace and yes well trained! Though can't walk him off the lead coz he'll go off killing! But the rest is awesome ... dogs love being trained tbh

My cockapoo obeys commands given to her but she's super excitable whenever you enter the house and runs around and barks at you and we've never been able to train that out if her no matter what weve done

Not all dogs love being trained , Lola does anything you want so long as it ties in with when she wants to do it . Lol

Not all dogs love being trained , Lola does anything you want so long as it ties in with when she wants to do it . Lol "

If my dog was a little cockerpoo I'd probably consider him pretty well trained for his age and everyone would love how friendly he is....but he's a massive, hairy goofball who loves to play with EVERYONE and put his paws on people's shoulders.... not quite so cute then!

Actually that's not true, he's exceptionally well trained, having been brought up on a farm, and we're calm walking him off the lead anywhere in the countryside

Our gsd has his moments of being exceptionally well behaved and doing as he's asked then he has moments of being a complete dickhead and mincing around.

Our guide Dog puppy was very well behaved.

He's not mine anymore He lives with my boys and their mum. Hes very obedient and intelligent though.. Unless he spots another dog.. then WW3 breaks out.
